I have exactly the same probleme as exposed above concerning fender fuse.

When I open fender fuse, the first screen shows for half a second (with fender deluxe image), but it darkens immediatly.
The only thing I have left is the message at the bottom left of the screen: "please wait..." (with a litle red/green light flashing).
Nothing else works, nothing can be activated, nothing at all.

The amazing and extremely annoyning thing is that Fender Fuse WORKED FOR SOME TIME, BUT NOT ANYMORE! Everything was ok when I first downloaded the program. I have created some sounds, using utilities such as the compressor, or the auto wah, etc..
But one day, after a couple of weeks, and without any reason it was over.

My PC configuration is exactly the same as before. Nothing has changed on my computer, and the application simply doesn't work anymore.

My IE is recent and updated, and the xp sp3 is installed.

A little help would be very much welcomed

Hi,

I got a Mustang II for Xmas and only tried to install the Fender Fuse program today. I also have the same issue. When I launch Fender Fuse, I see a small image displaying the Fender Fuse logo or so and then the window switch to a full black one.

I'm not using IE and have uninstalled it. I have Windows XP SP3.

Thanks in advance,

Xavier

I believe IE may be a requirement for Fuse to run properly.

You might try a System Restore back to the date when it was working properly.

You HAVE to have IE8 installed for FUSE to work! See other posts. Also, have Windows up-to-date with ALL updates (Silverlight, Adobe Flash Player, .NET, etc.) 8)

Hey Guys,

fimbulthr - I'm not sure what could be causing that behavior. Have you tried uninstalling FUSE and Silverlight then reinstalling. Actually, that sounds like it could be related to .NET Framework. It's probably a good idea to uninstall that as well, restart, and then just run the FUSE installer.

xavlet - IE7 or later is a requirement for Fender FUSE 2.x. Even if you don't use it, FUSE needs it.

Hey guys,
Thanks, first, for taking the time to answer me.

Of course I uninstalled and re-installed everything, fuse and silverlight as well. I did it many times, together and separately. No result.
I've also read very carefully all the posts on this subject, here and anywhere on the web to try to find an answer by myself.
I've checked my IE version and xp updates which are the most recent I could find.
I'll follow your advices and try again to look for adobe, framework etc.. updates.

But I seriously doubt the solution will be here for one simple reason : as I said, Fuse WORKED for some time on my PC.
And, once again, I didn't chage anything in the configuration of my system.

What I would like to know is, according to your Fuse system-analysts, in which cases this dark and completely blocked screen is supposed to appear, especially after the application was able to work?
Couldn't it just be a vicious and well hidden bug? It seems many of us, fuse users, have had this dark screen problem.

One precision that could help: not long before Fuse stopped to work, Ive received installed an update for my mustang 1 amp. (no trouble with the amp)
When fuse stopped to work, I went on the Fender site and found the newly available update for Fender fuse (the one we can find now). I installed it, but nothing changed.

Maybe the later version of Fuse, once reinstalled, could work for me?

My guitar and I are very disappointed not to have the very fine Fender Fuse settings anymore. :'(

Give it a go ... Firmware 1.6.0 is included with Fuse 2.0.1.8 so be sure to update the firmware after installing the new Fuse.. good luck

One more thing...

I must precise this, in order to be quite clear : Fender fuse does open when I launch it.

I have the image of the Fender Deluxe opening page. And then, in half a second, it darkens, but STAYS here. Nothing can be activated on the page, but the application is absolutely here.
During the half second when Fuse is normaly opening, if I spot in advance my mouse marker at the right point, I can very shortly activate something, a change of amplifier shown for example... but then everything gets blocked, and that's it.
It looks as if the autorisation of using that program is first granted, but then very rapidely denied.

One thing has come to my mind:
Could there be any link between the good functioning of Fender Fuse, and the Ableton or Amplitude additionnal software provided with my mustang amplifier? For example if I didn't register on these software sites, could it happen as if a trial period would be over and the result would be the blockade of everything, Fender Fuse included because of some unexpected and perverted trick?

Thanks again for helping me :)

Again, that sounds like a .NET Framework issue. What I would do is uninstall FUSE, Silverlight, and .NET Framework 3.5 SP1, restart the computer, and run the Fender FUSE 2.1.0.8 installer. That will install all of the previously removed programs. Are you saying that you've done that?

If you've done that already, try this. Go to the Run command in the Start menu and type %localappdata% (with the percent signs) and hit enter. This will bring up a window full of folders. Open the Microsoft folder and delete the Silverlight folder inside of it. Then try to launch FUSE. That folder will be recreated upon launch so don't worry about deleting it.

Regarding the third party software interfering with FUSE, they don't interact at all on a software level. That most likely is not the issue.

M. Loren Howard, I did exactly as you said, both ways, very carefully.

Unfortunately nothing's changed: the opening screen showing the deluxe amp gets dark, end of story.

After I deleted the silverlight folder ( with, as you said, the %localappdata% command ), Fuse asked me to point my amplifier on the little list, or to connect my amp. But it seems that FUSE didnt' seem to identify my mustang.
(I know though that my cable is ok since I can do direct recordings from the amp through "audacity").

Reallly frustrating. Please dont let me down on this.

Alright. If it was working fine and then one day it stopped, my best guess is that Windows Update ran and modified some things. Can you please contact us directly? It would help us if you could supply us with a few system logs/crash logs. If you send us an email containing detailed system specs, I could give you instructions on obtaining these logs.

We will do our absolute best to get this issue resolved for you and anyone else that experiences this or any other issue.

After not having used Fuse software on my Intel iMac since last December, I started it up, and was greeted by the infamous black screen described here. I downloaded the latest version of Fuse with the same result. I then downloaded Silverlight for the Mac and that solved the problem.

Good to know that it was relatively easy to resolve that problem. Fimbulthr, are you still having this problem?
