I've had no problem uploading presets to the community, but the preset info is not carrying forward. I have filled in the genre, tags and comments in my presets, but they are getting stripped somehow in the upload process. Also, it would be nice if the author of a preset could edit the info once it has been uploaded.

I tried to load some "submitted" presets, I could not get them to open. The prompt told me it could not find the program that created or something, I think. I mean at this point, I've had so many issues with this system, my brain is mush.....

I did get one to open and it turned out to be one of the Fender presets already on the amp, that figures.

I thought at least you would be able to preview the presets that people submit, nope.....

Ok, my bad here. It would appear that I have to do a 'save as' on the preset after it has been applied to the amp. I guess this updates the info fields in the copy that's in the media library. Working between the media library and the amp is not real intuitive, but no biggie.

I would still like to suggest that an author be able to update his or her preset once it has been uploaded to the community server.

Hi TimboStrat,

Are you adding the Preset information before the Preset is saved to your amp or computer? If not, you'll have to save the preset again.

Hey, I'm not sure what the heck I'm doing. :D It happened again. The preset appears in my media library with the info (tags, comments, genre) filled in. I uploaded the preset and POOF...gone. And when I load the preset from my media library to the amp, same thing. There seems to be no rhyme or reason for it. I have two presets uploaded to the community (under SingleCoil) with my info in them, and the rest are blanks.

I agree. we should be able to edit our preset after we upload it.

Agreed, author should be able to edit tag, genre metadata about preset online once uploaded.

Hey Guys,

We're investigating this now. I should have some info for you soon.

Thanks, Loren. Here's what I've gathered after further investigation. To get the metadata for a preset to be preserved for upload you MUST be logged in to the community, and you MUST save it to a preset on your amp. I may be wrong, but this seems to be the only way I can get it to work.

What I'd like to see is us being able to work exclusively with a preset when it is isolated in the media library. After all, that's where it is staged for upload to begin with. When I am experimenting with a new preset, I prefer to build it in the preset editor and save it to the library. I don't necessarily want to save it to the amp just so I can upload it to the community.

I hope this makes sense. Looking forward to the results of your inquiry!

Hi Timbo Strat,

We've done some testing across four different OS's with both Mustang and G-DEC 3 amps and can't seem to recreate the issue you're speaking of.

We created a new Preset, added the Preset info (genre, tags, description), saved that Preset using the save button, named the Preset, verified that the Preset info was displayed in the Media Library without being logged in, logged in, and uploaded the Preset. Each time the Preset info was present on the Community. This also worked without saving the preset to the amp first or without ever having an amp connected.

Can you verify that following the steps above you are unable to see your Preset info once the preset is uploaded?

Thanks,
Loren

Loren - I hope I didn't inadvertently send you good folks on a wild goose chase. I will try and recreate my issue here on my end and then try to do a better job of describing what's happening. If it turns out to be "user error" on my part, I want to apologize in advance.

One thing I can confirm so far is that I have to be logged in with the amp on in for the author field to get populated. I was just able to upload a preset with the metadata intact. So far, so good. It is quite possible that I may not have done a final save on the ones that failed. Let's put this one on hold, for now. Again, my apologies.

I can verify that this is happening to me as well. I am on an i5 Macbook Pro. This has also been sent to you via email Loren.

Hi Guys,

You do have to be logged in for your name to be displayed in the Media Library.

Billy- Just to confirm, you are following the steps above and are unable to upload your preset info, correct?
