Hi Steven,

It seems you have lots of questions regarding the G-DEC 3 and Fender FUSE. Perhaps you'd like to contact us directly to get some answers. It sounds like the G-DEC 3 will do everything you'd like it to, you just need to become more familiar with the interface. We can answer any questions you have.

FUSE 2.0.1 is now available. It should take care of your issues. :)

The problems you have read about were previous versions of FUSE 2.0.0!

:?

The latest version has solved the known issues, including syncing, processor usage and usability.

Also, concerning your pitch change/quality issues, have you updated the firmware to 1.04? I believe that addressed that issue. :)

You can certainly use the gdec3 as if it was the old gdec and just ignore the cool new things it can do.

One of the things that you can do is to download the midi files of all the old Gdec presets from fender (see the support downloads section), use the utility menu to put the amp into usb drive mode, and then drag and drop the midi files to the midi folder on the amp (you don't need fuse to do this). You will then be able to control the pitch and speed.

I recommend checking out the "advanced" gdec users guide. Don't be put off by the title. It should have been called the "complete" users guide because it contains all the menus and commands on the amp.

I did this when I first got the gdec3 because I remember the people who had the original gdec posting some pretty cool recordings of their playing against these midi tracks. I also have midi tracks of my own that I created with band in a box.

Good luck,
Dave

The problem is probably not Vista, but what version of IE are you using? Is it IE7 or later? If not, there's your problem. If it is, I suspect some other program on your computer is confusing FUSE. I've run every version since 1.1.3 on two different machines running Win XP SP2 (which isn't supposed to work) and SP3, and with the exception of the first version 2.0.0, haven't had major problems.

Also, make sure all your Windows Updates have been done. It may be a missing .NET update causing the issues. You should keep these up to date as a normal matter on your computer anyway.

Best of luck,
Bob

Fender FUSE is definitely compatible with Vista. The MIDI file issue should be resolved by updating to the newest v. 1.04 firmware. After the update your MIDI files should play fine. I'm not sure what's going on with FUSE. You mentioned it keeps wanting to reinstall. Is it possible that you are launching the installer believing that you are clicking a shortcut for the app? I only ask because I've seen that before.

As I said before, we are available by phone to assist you with anything you have questions about.
