Had no problems tweaking the presets on my Mustang I in FUSE and then making a backup of the presets.

Later, opened FUSE and started a restore from the backup of the presets. Started just fine and the progress bar gets almost to the end and then freezes. Have to close the program to get out of the restore utility.

During the restore the preset lights cycle on the amp until the freeze.

Running the latest FUSE on Vista 32, Mustang I firmware was updated. Everything else in FUSE appears to run fine, just have problems with the restore utility.

Sometimes I start fuse, make a sound, but had not yet logged in, so certain
options would not work until I logged in. Saving to the first 8 presets requires being logged in, so restoring them should too. Hope its that simple. :)

Why would I have to be logged on/in to back-up and restore presets from the amp and my computer?

The back-up utility seems to work fine, it's the restore utility that freezes. I say "seems" becuase it is possible that the file that is generated may be messed up somehow.

I tried saving a sound in one of the protected 'amber' sound slots, that only can be saved to from within FUSE, and it kept winding up in the first green slot. I then noticed I was not logged in to the FUSE account, so I logged in, and then was able to save it in the amber bank. Since restoring includes saving sounds to those amber slots, it seems logical you would have to be logged in. Don't know why they made the first 8 spots so special.
Cheers

Ok, I'm logged on and going thru FUSE now. I tried the restore utility and just like before it freezes when the progress bar is near the end. I have to close FUSE to exit the utility.

The back-up utility saves a file and exits back to the editor.

I've tried unistalling/reinstalling FUSE and still freezes.

Hi rgs,

You don't have to be logged in to restore presets or to make changes to the amber bank of presets. I recommend you try the factory restore by holding down the exit button while you power your amp on. After that, attempt to restore your backup using Fender FUSE. Let me know if that works for you.

Thanks for the reply Loren.
I reset the amp to factory defaults and verified everything was working.

Next I booted the computer, started the FUSE editor and checked that the factory presets were showing up. OK so far.

Started the restore utility, selected a back-up file and started the restore. When the progress bar was near the end it froze again like before. I had to exit the program to get out of the restore utility.

I restarted the FUSE editor and the backed-up presets were in the amp and working.

So it looks like the restore is working but the pop-up dialog for the restore utility hangs.

Should I reflash the firmware update?

Reflashing the firmware won't hurt, but it doesn't sound related. It sounds like it's working even though it looked like it didn't finish the restore. I'll see if we can reproduce that behavior here. In the meantime, let me know if you have any further problems.

This might be a 6 legged critter on the loose!
Have a great weekend :)
