Wile attempting to edit some presets and changing some bad tracks Fuse cause my GDEC 30 to completely lock up even after I disconnected it from the PC.

There were no error messages on the amp or PC. Fuse was in the process of transferring the changes i made but my amp did not respond. As far as fuse was concerned it was connected and synced but would not make any changes to my amp. I went to the amp, disconnected the USB cable and tried to see what was going on but none of the buttons responded except the on/of switch. I rebooted and tried again and the same thing happened.

I rebooted again, went into the amp and manually edited the preset from the amp without any problems. Luckily this is not happening all the time or els Fuse would be useless but it's happening often enough that it's just not a fluke.

Anyone else having these kind of problems and are there any solutions out there?

BTW I have a new fast PC with lots of ram running win7 64.

Maybe run the taskmanager before you run fuse, see whats in it, then next time something in fuse misbehaves, check the processes tab in taskmanager, and see if a specific app is now running from some autostart
script, that wasn't before. In XP, right-click the taskbar to get the manager, don't have Win7

Thanks for the suggestion.

Whenever I have a problem with my computer I always check to see what processes are running but this is not a computer problem per say but a communication problem. The computer and the Fuse software continue to run fine what is locking up is the GDEC when the Fuse software attempts to update changes on the amp through USB. Also note that the i have multiple USB 2 ports and they are also working fine.

Hey Meeee,

What firmware version do you have on your amp? You can verify by looking in the lower right corner of the amp's screen on bootup.

Hi, a usb port does no work, just sits there. The communicating work
means integrating internet connections, usb i/o, audio i/o, chipsets on
the computer and amp motherboards, multiple operating systems, diverse
drivers, default or installed auto-starting software, not to mention
possible offloading CPU jobs to video GPU, and acpi/power management
defaults changing cpu performance on the fly without asking you.

from the fender knowledge base

¨However, while USB drive mode is enabled on the Fender G-DEC 3 it is best to eject or unmount the disk image from your computer and exit USB drive mode before unplugging the unit. ¨

if an SD card is being used,

¨Many brands of Type 2 and Type 4 SD Cards are supported by the Fender G-DEC 3 except for SD cards manufactured by Kodak® or Kingston®. Kodak and Kingston SD cards are known to be incompatible with the Fender G-DEC 3’s software due to the way the card reads and writes data. Additionally, many SDHC cards with capacities of up to 8GB have been tested and are supported for use with the Fender G-DEC 3. Although SDHC cards with more than 8 GB capacity may work, they are not officially supported at this time.

Sandisk SD and SDHC cards are recommended.¨

Hope things get sorted for the weekend!
Cheers

Everything is up to date, the firmware is 104.

We've heard from some users with similar issues. Are you using Fender FUSE 2.0? It is possible that the presets on your amp contain data from version 1.1.3 that version 2.0 doesn't agree with.
You may want to try backing up your presets to an SD card using the "Export All" Utililty menu feature, performing a Preset restore using the option on the amp, and importing your custom Presets back to the amp one by one. If you have a lot of custom Presets this can be time consuming but it is known to work in most cases. We are testing an upcoming release that resolves this issue and it will be available soon. I hope that helps.

Loren,

I am using version 2.

Thanks for the info but I already did what you suggested because when I first updated fuse 2, it would not sync with my GDEC at all until I rested all the presets ( how that bug got by the programers who supposedly test this software is beyond me ). I also deleted and reinstalled Fuse incase of a bad install or corrupt file but nothing seems to help. Hope Fender will finally sort out the bugs in this next update that you mention.

BTW Loren, do you know when we will be able to easily organize and rearrange our presets and band tracks within Fuse? I have asked this question before but have gotten no answer as of yet.

We are working on a way to fit that functionality into Fender FUSE. It appears it will require a firmware update to work the way we want it to. It is in the pipeline but we won't release a version with that feature until we are 100% sure it will work flawlessly.

That is great. I am glad to hear that Fender is listening and realizes how beneficial this functionality would be for all of us.

Loren, I will not hold you to a date but do you have a time frame for when we could expect this functionality to be added? Are we talking weeks, months a year? I ask because I have been putting off manually deleting, renaming and reordering all my presets hoping for this update but things are piling up and it would be great if I had an idea when you guys hope to release this.

Thanks!

Unfortunately I can't give you a time frame but it is our most requested feature and it's at the top of the list of new features to add.
