Hi, I don't have my Mustang yet, but installed IE8, and service Pack 3 on my
ancient XP install, and then installed the latest FUSE. I had to run the installer twice, as it stopped at the tail end of the Silver-doo-hickey thing, and it finished the install ok the second time. I rebooted, and FUSE is working, I can place gear and amps, access downloads, switch between GDEC and Mustang sound lists, redirect to this forum etc, it's an impressive effort.
Some of the youtube vids are pretty funny/impressive. Now I just need some sleep, and a successful Mustang shopping trip sunday afternoon

Cheers

Acer Aspire laptop XP SP3 Silverlight 4.0 MSNET 4.0 pre-existing configuration. Installed, removed, reinstalled FUSE 2.0. Freezes up every time. Plenty of computer memory, etc.

Bought my Mustang II for this very functionality. Very disappointed with FUSE software team. Really took the buzz out of buying new amp.

Fender seems serious about pricing and quality. Provide a path to earlier FUSE version that worked and immediately revamp process surrounding FUSE development and testing. I am serious about what I do. Shoddy version release and no path to previous version is amateurish at best. Sorry to be so direct but reading thru the posts on your forums, Fender will have to double down to show they are as serious with software development as they are about pricing.

Before all the I.T. guyz and coders jump on this, I know that world too. Have 20 years smoke-jumping major releases. Ask the Fender VP of marketing if he thinks testing is important.

Loren - Thanks for keeping us updated. Good luck. Let's get the excitement going!

Bob, I never thanked you for your kind offer: Thank you!
I'm sure it would have helped. I did what was suggested and then Fuse 2.0 worked.

itswhatido: I feel your frustration; this is probably a dumb question, but do you have IE8 installed? Are you freezing on the FBSOD? Maybe talk to Bob and aske for 1.1.3?

Good luck, I'm pretty happy with Fuse on my Dell Inspiron 9400, but it's pretty laggy. It's much faster on a tower PC.

Good Luck!

Les

I haven't found a place where you can find 1.1.3. I don't know if there's an area here where you can private message me?!? If so, I could send the file as an attachment to your e-mail address. When I click the button to pm, it says it's been disabled on this board.

Bob

Hi, I bought a Mustang1, had already installed the newest Fuse, the amp
install was great, it did the firmware, the software registrations, driver checks, and both the amp and fuse work as advertised 8)

Athlon 3800
2 gig ram
nvidia 6100 motherboard video
maudio 24/96 pci sound

Is there a way to have the same fx on both sides of the amp in fuse,
or have more than one of the same fx on one side?

The sounds I'm getting are excellent, both from the speaker and headphones.
The fuse gui is gorgeous, not 'snappy', but not irritatingly slow, and lots of options are in the dropdown for each effect, so the 24 preset sounds are now
officially in danger

I highly recommend fence sitters to flash that plastic!

Hi, I'm starting Fuse from the commandline, maybe something in your
bios or IRQ sharing needs adjust, or shutdown? Maybe a different
screen resolution? V1.3 is still on the sight here, somewhere, as I was able to google and download it, just in case it was needed.
Good Luck!

Thanks for the suggestions. If I am successful, I will post my results with FUSE 2.0. Thanks for the tip on the earlier version.

I had trouble installing FUSE 2.0 on my XP laptop. My PC was up to date with all Microsoft (MS) XP updates including Service Pack 3 (SP3). Also had all of the other stuff FUSE install required like, IE8, MSNET 3.5 SP1, Silverlight 4.0, and the Fender ASIO driver installed and up to date. FUSE would freeze on the "loading" splash screen every time. Installed, removed, reinstalled FUSE 3 times with same result.

Hooray! Got it going at on the 4th attempt. Let the excitement begin!

Here's what I had to do to get it going:

1. Removed Fender ASIO driver
2. Removed Fender FUSE software
3. Removed MS Silverlight 4.0

CAUTION: Removing the following MSNET items WILL affect other apps you have that depend on them. So, set aside a few hours where you can work on this exclusively.

4. Removed MSNET 4.0 & MSNET 4.0 client
5. Uninstalled MSNET 3.5 SP1

NOTE: Uninstalling these will leave a number of registry entries and files behind. A good uninstaller live REVO will help clean these up.

6. Restarted Windows

7. Downloaded FUSE 2.0 from www.fender.com (Full 300MB) again

8. Ran fuse installer and let IT install MSNET 3.5 SP1 and Silverlight 4.0

9. The installer froze while loading the Fender ASIO driver set so I had to go to www.fender.com and download it directly. Oh well.

After that, the FUSE 2.0 application started and ran normally. And it's pretty neat.

10. Then I ran the Microsoft Update and recovered everything I had deleted.

I must say that I was quite frustrated during this event and had not planned on spending 4 hours working on it. With my PC completely up to date with all prerequisites the install should have worked properly the first time. Hope this helps someone until fender responds with a properly tested procedure and installation for XP.

Anyone else have ideas or other experiences, please reply. Thanks to those who offered suggestions so far.

I have a Mac OS X 10.6.4 and tried to load Fuse maybe 3 different times after buying a new Mustang II yesterday. Each time, it would get stuck on the Fender Fuse "loading....please wait" screen. I let it wait all night the final time. Nothing working yet.

Any thoughts would be great.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for posting all of those steps Itswhatido. I'm glad you're up and running. In most cases, Fender FUSE is a simple install that doesn't require such elaborate instructions.

Remsmith- Can you please do me a favor and visit http://www.silverlight.net? It sounds like your issue could be related to the version of Silverlight you have installed. Try to update to the newest version at the Silverlight website and try to launch Fender FUSE again. Let me know what happens.

Thanks,
Loren

Hi, is the Mustang showing up as a usb audio device in your Mac audio apps? It appears to be a bog standard usb device (THANKYOU Fender!)
and should be available for recording action on a Mac, out of the box.

Hi, I have had XP sp1, no microsoft update enabled, for years, for vsts, not general internet use. So with fear and trembling, and thorough backups, I installed sp3, and Fuse being bundled with Silverlight and .net, maybe worked so smoothly for me, because mine was close to a 'clean install'. You persevered, and reverted back closer to a clean install, and achieved success. On such a complex app as FUSE, an install FAQ will likely take a while to mature, but the results are worth it. All operating systems are rolling betas, (with stubborn pockets of alpha grade code
resistance  fighters) so we must apply caution with everything
valuable on our computers.
Cheers

Thanks all for your words of encouragement and feedback. Would suggest more diligent testing in future releases.

Sixline - I will be more wary in the future. Glad I was prepared this time. XP should be mature at this point, 150 bug patches after release, but you are absolutely right. Releasing software without thorough testing is a plague consumers should not have to experience when dealing with top corporations.

This is very true, unfortunately it also seems to be the norm in the industry not the exception.

After working with the FUSE software, I find it indispensable when playing now. The problems I encountered appear to be with the installation routines, not the application itself. I love the FUSE app!!!

I am moving on into the use and discovering what others are doing with FUSE application. Cannot resist hoping that others will benefit from my complaints about pre-release installation testing.

For sounds i really like, I copy their settings on paper. I have a least 3 incidents where a preset changed while logged in, but no-one was at
the computer, twice I saw it happen  while having coffee nearby, another time it happened and I luckily discovered it shortly after uploading the sound, and a moderator saw my email, and deleted it for me. Most of the time, FUSE fails to display the correct preset info on my uploads, neglecting descriptions and genre. I have also discovered triplicates of several sounds in my \Fuse\Presets drawer. Now I have a couple sounds I posted that I need to verify are actually the correct ones. Its a bummer putting info on an upload to give people a clue, so someone wanting metal, knows not to download something made for accoustica, and having the info vanish. But updates are on the way,
hopefully lots of fixes.
Having separate Fuse releases for G-dec and Mustang would be a good start.
Cheers
