Hi

I've noticed that v2.0 continually keeps my CPU running at 100% activity.

The previous v1.1.3 was fairly CPU heavy but only 80%ish and only when the FUSE window was active - when it was minimised it used virtually no CPU so that was fairly unobtrusive when I was switching about doing the usual multi-tasking.

Is there a setting on FUSE 2.0 that I can change to reduce the load on my CPU? Doing anything else with my PC while it's open is impossible because even when minimised it uses 100% of it!!

Here's my PC Spec -
Windows XP Service Pack 3.
AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3400+ 2.19GHz
2.84GB of RAM

G-DEC 3 Thirty with v1.04 Firmware
Fuse Version 2.0

Thanks :(

I got no response to my original post so I'm wondering if it dropped below the radar

What I'm seeing is that FUSE 2.0 runs fine on its own but as soon as I connect the G-Dec, via USB, a program called FUSEServer.exe starts up and CPU activity goes through the roof!

Can anyone from Fender help please?

Hey Jim,

Sorry for the delay. We're investigating this issue. We've seen some sluggishness in 2.0 as well. Once we know more I'll let you know.

Thanks,
Loren

Hi Loren
I also noticed my laptop CPU max's out when fuse is running. I have an older laptop running XP sp3. Overall I love the improvements. It does sometimes struggle syncing with the amp and I reboot the amp for the fix.

Not sure if it's a bug or just haven't figured out the tuner on the pedal. It seems to keep going back to tuner mode when I try to go back to quick mode. Overall, love the amp and fuse.

Hi Loren

Any progress on this issue yet? Is a fix part of the update you mentioned elsewhere? I sincerely hope so.

Thanks

Hi Jim,

We are aware of the issue and yes we are including a fix in the next update. It will be available very soon.

From the 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' file, I hope the new update is designed to install without requiring a new install or reinstall of Silverlight and .net.
Any chance the next update will allow multiples of the sound modules as both stomps and racks? This would exponentially improve sound design potential.
Cheers :)

Hey Sixline,

In this case the features of the software (Fender FUSE) are dependent upon what the amp is capable of. The amp has provisions for one of each effect type and that is unlikely to change. It's a little different than AU/VST/RTAS plug in technology where you can stack as many plugs as your cpu can handle. In those cases the audio processing is handled by the computer. In this case, all processing is done on the amp itself.

Yes, its easy to forget the Mustang is also a low-cost but
powerful audio computer, and the 'memory' may either be full,
or not flashable, to keep costs so nicely affordable. But there are
times when I would prefer 2 or 3 modulations, among even 4 choices,
or more than one stomp, in case that may be programmable in FUSE.

If the marketing of FUSE implies some expandibility that is physically impossible, I would pull any such ads posthaste, before many customers
with higher expectations can get set up for a possible let-down.
Cheers

Was there an update to this issue for 2.0 yet? I have a pretty new win 7 x64 laptop and fuseserver.exe eats 50% of the cpu when connected to the mustang.

Thanks in advance

New version just out today, I installed it in Vista32 home on HP laptop, no speed, graphic or sound issues. One reboot needed after the .net part of the install. The announcement link is up above here a few screen inches.
Cheers

Hi lesbeat,

The updated version of Fender FUSE (version 2.0.1) has been optimized in regard to CPU usage. You should see a great improvement in CPU usage with this update. Please let us know if we can be of assistance.

Best Regards,
