Hi,

I have a problem with Fuse 2.0, where everytime, when i have loaded an edited preset from SD card to G-Dec 3 Thirty, Fuse crashes on start up.

I have done the Preset Restore several times and Fuse will load as long as i keep the factory presets intact. But, with even one edited preset loaded from SD (using G-Dec "utility"), Fuse crashes on start up. I haven't been able to load the presets from SD card using Fuse at all, so i have only been using G-Dec's Utility for that.
I have the latest firmware 1.04 in amp and i also have the latest version of Fuse installed, downloaded yesterday 14.9.2010. However, i experienced this problem with the previous versions (Fuse & firmware 1.03) also.

I have Windows Vista 32bit laptop with all available Windows/system updates installed, Core 2 Duo processor, 3gb of RAM and plenty of harddrive space available, so i don't think this is happening because my system is not up to the task.

I have read other posts in this Fuse forum and tried the tweaks/tips suggested, but any of those didn't solve my problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Regards,
Mikke

Hello Mikkey,

It sounds like the issue is related to some information stored in your custom Presets that Fender FUSE doesn't agree with. If you can sync Fender FUSE with your amp with only the factory Presets installed you should do that just so you can open Fender FUSE. Once it's open and synced, go to Media Library and click the SD card tab. Right click and select Get Preset from Amp for each preset you want to import to your amp. After you're done, click on the Computer tab and right click and select Save Preset to Amp for each Preset you want to save to the amp. I know it may be time consuming but that should be a "quick fix" for what you are experiencing.

Also, would you mind sending us a few of the Presets you are having trouble with. It would help us if we could take a look at one in order to determine what about it that Fender FUSE doesn't like. Thanks.

Hi Loren,

Thanks for your quick reply!

Previously i wasn't able to "Get preset from amp" at all, when i tried that, several new windows opened (My Computer etc.) and Fuse crashed, so i skipped that and used the "Utility" in amp instead.
Now, after another Fuse reinstall, i managed to do that for few presets, although those windows still open for no apparent reason. I saved the presets to amp, restarted Fuse and it started and synced.
But, there is at least one preset (i haven't had the time to try to "get" them all) for which "get preset from amp" won't work and Fuse crashes trying to do so.
This is strange, because the presets that i was now able to get from SD to amp and the one that crashed Fuse, i clearly remember creating/editing them in just one session, without turning off Fuse or amp between editing those presets.

I'm new to this forum and this is probably a stupid question, but could you please tell me how i should send you the preset?

Thanks again for your help,

Regards,
Mikke

Hey Mikke,

The Preset files on your computer are located in the Fender folder that reside's in your Documents folder. You can transfer a few presets from SD to computer and then browse the Fender folder for them. You can then send the Presets as attachments just like you would a Word document.

Hi Loren,

I just sent you one preset (to: TSL@fender.com) i'm having a problem with. At the moment it seems like that's the only one that still causes the Fuse to crash right away.

Mikke

Thanks Mikke,

We'll take a look at it and let you know as soon as we find anything.

This is probably the same problem I was having. I had to use Fuse to import all my custom presets and then resave them from Fuse in order for them to work. Seems ok now, since they have all been converted.

Problem is back! Yesterday i was saving a preset and Fuse crashed. Won't start up anymore with amp connected. Therefore i have to assume that the Preset Restore would be, once again, the only solution to make it work again and that's just too bad.
So, i decided to try with another computer (different brand, different processor etc, but also running Vista 32bit) and had that same problem occur, so it seems to me that Vista and Fuse are not a good match.

This is becoming a big problem because it looks as if there's really something wrong with how Fuse interacts with the amp. If i just use the amp for editing, saving etc, there is no problem. Amp works fine with the current presets i have, but Fuse doesn't. And if this is going to happen every now and then when using Fuse, i'd say that this application, as it is now, is pretty much a waste of time.

I have already done several Preset Restores in 2 weeks i have had the amp, just because the Fuse wouldn't start/sync with the "Fuse-edited" presets in amp.

I really do like the amp, but, to be able to easily edit the presets with computer/GUI and having USB connection were two of the bigger factors that made me buy it in the first place.

So, i really hope that Fender is looking into this, because just by reading this forum it's quite clear i'm not alone with these Fuse related problems.

Any suggestions/tips are greatly appreciated!

Regards,
Mikke

Hi Mikke,

You are definitely not alone. We are working very hard to get to the root of the issue. We appreciate your patience.
At this time the only thing I could suggest would be to restore your Presets again. I understand if you don't want to continue to have to do this. A fix for this issue will be coming soon.
