How about a version of Fuse that can run on an iPad, iPhone and an iPod Touch? How convenient would that be!!? You could place your iPhone or iPod Touch right on top of the GDEC, or the iPad next to it. No mouse to change parameters, etc. The touchscreen would be so much easier. Also, it would make a nice option for those who have Power PC Macs in which Fuse is not compatible/supported. For those, like myself, who can't splurge on a new Mac laptop ($1200 plus) or Mac Mini (600 plus) just to have a running version of Fuse, grabbing an iPod Touch ($180 plus) is much more economical. Presets and band tracks might be a snap to upload and download. With Fender's current partnership with IK Multimedia, who just released the iRig for these devices, I think this is hugely possible. On a larger scale, create versions of Fuse to run on other similar mobile devices (don't want to exclude anyone).

Just a thought.

Sign me up! That would be great and while we are in the Fuse software we could also access the forums.

bluesdelux:

I would LOVE to see Fuse running on the iPad. That is a great idea! I hope Fender is listening.

On the iRig, I have had nothing but problems with the iRig, and IKMultimedia support was no help at all. The volume that I get from the iRig and headphones is so low as to be useless for me. I bought it for traveling so that I can play in hotel rooms. I think I will get a pocket pod instead.

Thanks for the support Billy Hell and truebluefliplover! That's a shame about the iRig—I'm sort of shocked by that. I guess we'll have to wait and see if Fender comes through with Fuse for the iPad, iPod Touch or iPhone. Sounds like they have their hands full with some other Fuse issues. Oh well, nobody's perfect.

Yeah, while it would be cool i think just general improvement of the FUSE software would be welcome before we go onto fancier things. I mean the software isnt even runnning on macs that well yet. Personally id like to see the basics covered before we get more sophisticated

I had a very hard time convincing my wife to switch to the Mac a few years ago. Now, she is more of a Mac diehard than I am. Right now, we two old fogies have three iMacs (27", 24", and an old 20") and one Macbook Pro set up in the house and an OLD Mac Mini boxed up somewhere around here. I have even started learning objective c so that I can work on a few programs that she wanted on the ipad.

I agree that fixing the Fuse problem on the Macs is the priority. I guess that a temporary workaround for intel macs would be to run the windows version either dual boot or with parallels/Vmware.

I think the GDEC3 should have come with a nice flat safe spot to put your laptop. When I show her off to my friends the experience isn't near as cool without the computer hooked up.

A couple of velcro strips on the top and some on your laptop is a thought. I keep mine on an amp stand for additiional height.

What a great idea!

Go on Fender, you know it makes sense... its not always convenient to have a laptop nearby.

I'm handicapped and it's a major problem for me to move my Mustang II, guitar, etc. Into the computer room to use Fuse. An app for iPod touch would be very helpful.

How do you envision an iPhone or iPad being connected to the G-DEC? I guess a new cable would be needed as well.

Good point jsteele. I took a quick look on apples site and didn't see any adapters for usb to ipad. What they do have won't work with the smaller USB inputs on the GDEC or mustang models. Although Fender could develop something like Apogee's Jam Guitar Input or Amplitube's iRig. It might even be cool to not even have to connect our Mustangs or GDECs. Just our guitar directly into an ipad and use the Fuse software just as iRig operates. I realize this defeats the purpose of playing through the amp though. But, I like Fender's amp modeling and this additional feature would make it more versatile and marketable. I'd also like to see Fuse be developed as a plug-in for DAW's. That way I could use any usb device and get Fender's amp modeling. I have troubles with latency, etc using my mustang II as a usb interface into Ableton. Using CakeWalk's UA4fx usb interface with the mustang's headphones out into it works like a charm, almost no latency or low level recording issues.

Hey Guys,

Keep in mind that the G-DEC 3 can be connected directly to an iPad using the Apple Camera Connection Kit for the iPad. You can record directly into your iPad recording app.

FUSE is using Microsoft's Silverlight product, as far as I remember the old docs.
I do not believe the ipad's version of mobile Safari supports silverlight, so that would be a major issue in getting it to run on the ipad/ipod.

Great, thanks for that info Loren! I didn't know that was possible. Is it possible to do this with any of the Mustang series amps?
