Can I access presets I have saved on an SD card directly, with the card in the amp slot, or do I have to have them on the G-DEC hard drive or on the computer in Fuse? I aim to learn this stuff and have read and read the Fuse manual, and the G-DEC and Advanced G-DEC manuals. Either I'm a bit slow on the uptake, (possible), or this is all a bit confusing, (possible). :?

You have to load presets to a slot on the hard drive (00 - 99). Band tracks can be accessed directly from the SD card.

Hi mgillen,

The easiest way to accomplish this as you are leaning your way around Fender FUSE and the G-DEC 3 is to bring your Presets into Fender FUSE via Add To Library button. This is located in the Media Library view. Once your Presets are added to your Fender folder (My Documents/Fender/Presets), you can simply Right click and send them to whatever location you choose on your amp.

This didn't work for me and it caused me quite a bit of frustration today. When I right-clicked on a preset and sent it to my SD card on the G-Dec the amp locked up with the screen saying it was updating files!! I left it for a good half an hour before I finally switched the amp off! Twice!

I eventually read the FUSE PDF Owners Manual and found this at the bottom of page 11 -

"*NOTE: Fender® FUSE™ can not copy presets from your computer
to the SD card. You can export presets directly from the G-DEC 3
to the SD card or you can connect your SD card directly to your
computer and copy preset files to and from the SD card that way."

I followed the instructions in this paragraph and Good News I finally got presets from the Community on to my amp. I wish that I had read the manual first :x

Why is incorrect advice being given in the forum?!

Surely it can't only be me that had this experience :(

Dear Alan Willey

Any comment on my last post on this thread?

Am I really the only one who has had the problem I described?

Thanks

That's odd. I was able to copy presets over to my SD card on my GDEC-3 30 from within FUSE. Although it is a clumsy slow hokey and clumsy process to copy a single preset file at a time to the SD card. It disconnects the GDEC USB port, then reconnects to the GDEC SD card port, transfers only a single file at a time, then it disconnects from the SD card port and then finally reconnects to the GDEC processor port again. Then it sits for a few seconds re-syncing with the GDEC. This clumsy and slow processing takes place for each and every single preset file you choose to transfer to the SD card from within FUSE. I could find no way to do a bulk transfer of several preset files all in one shot. Bottom line is that it does transfer preset files to SD card. I don't see that warning on page 11 neither in the Owner's Manual nor in the Advanced Manual. I don't know what version of the GDEC you got but mine seems different than yours. Fender support, can you put a request in to fix this slow and frustrating preset file transfer? At least update the software so that we can select and transfer multiple files over to the SD card in one shot.
Thank You!

Hey Guys,

It appears there is a typo in that manual. Copying files from Fender FUSE to an SD card in the amp is definitely supported. We've noticed a few people that have had their amps freeze during this transfer but those people are the exception. We are working on making this transfer process faster and more stable. I apologize for the confusion.

Yes, Thanks Loren. Hope they can improve the process.
Also worth knowing, in my particular case, I was using Fender FUSE installed on my Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit OS on an ASUS laptop. Maybe the folks who are experiencing freeze ups are using another OS. But mine seems to be working under Window 7 (Ultimate).
