I've tried several times to move both backing tracks and presets from the Fuse software to the GDEC SD card. I've had several issues. Sometimes, during the transfer, the connection to the amp is lost. When I started the transfer, Fuse would show that the amp is connected, then during transfer, it would disconnect. This would also cause the Fuse software to occassionally "lock up", and I'd have to power down both the amp and my computer.

When I've actually been able to move backing tracks, some of the tracks would not be transferred in their entirety. It would cut off in the middle of the track when I'd play it back.

Any ideas? I'm running Windows 7 on my computer. Thanks for your help.

Hello jdscpa,

The behavior involving the amp disconnecting and then reconnecting again is normal. When copying files to and from the amp using Fender FUSE the amp is placed in a "mass storage mode" where it appears to the computer as a removable storage device. This is the same thing that happens when the amp is placed in "USB Drive" mode. Since the amp can't be connected to Fender FUSE if it's being treated as a USB hard drive it must disconnect first, complete the copy/transfer process, then reconnect when the file (Preset or Band Track) is finished copying/transferring.

Sometimes this process can take a while depending on the size of the file. It could be possible that sometimes your amp isn't hanging or freezing at all. I would try smaller files and wait a minute or two to see if they are transferred successfully or if the amp hangs. If the small files work properly, then move on to larger files and wait longer for the transfer to be completed.

As far as Band Tracks only playing halfway or cutting off, do you have any specific tracks I can download to try to reproduce that behavior?

Loren,

Thanks for your response. I can point you to the specific file for download, but I'm not sure that will help. I moved the exact same file to the amp hard drive through Fuse and the entire backing track went over without issue. However when I tried to move to the SD card, only a portion went over. This happened for two different tracks. One of the tracks was from the Guitar Center King of the Blues tracks, "Funky Rock Blues". The whole file went to the hard drive, but only about 5 seconds to the SD card.

The fact that the whole file came over to the hard drive, and not the SD card, should mean it's not a file issue but an issue in the transfer to the SD card. Just didn't know if there was a "quick fix" for that issue.

The Fuse software shuts down on my system (Win 7 home premium) every single time. It will move 1 preset each time, then locks up. The only way I can get out of it is to control-alt-delete and shut it down through task manager.

Your system has crashed and the most likely solution is to reboot the system. It has happened to me several times while doing a preset and band track back up. Fender has yet to address this issue which shows just how unprofessional they are.

OK, I'm now completely frustrated with the SD card functionality. And it's obvious I'm not the only one on the forum with issues judging from the other topics here.

I've upgraded the software to 1.1.3. I've reformatted the SD card. I've tried over and over to move mp3 files through Fuse to the amp, and I still have yet to have a successful full transfer of the files. I've had Fuse stop working, I've had it go on and on and finally get the message that "Fuse is no longer responding". This is ridiculous. Over 10 attempts, and none were successful.

Reading through the forum I've tried everything that has been suggested for the mp3 transfer to SD card issue. None have helped.

Someone at Fender, help please. Please get this software updated so this functionality actually works. It's one of the main reasons I bought the amp, and likely the reason I'll return it if I can't get this problem fixed.

Hey jdscpa,

Are you having a problem transferring any files to the SD card or is it just MP3's? Are you able to transfer WAV files and Presets? Also is this behavior restricted to the SD card or are you having issues saving to the amp as well?

Loren,

I've only tried to transfer MP3s to the SD card. However, they transferred fine to the amp hard drive. If the hard drive had more room I'd just move everything to that. I've not tried to transfer any presets to the card either, but I have transferred presets to the amp.

So the transfer seems to work fine to the amp, just not the card. I've reformatted the card a couple of times as well, to no avail.

Try to transfer a WAV file and a preset file to the SD card if you can. This reminds me of a gentleman a few weeks back that bought some MP3's off of a backing track website and kept having issues similar to yours. He was able to transfer any other kind of file, including MP3's that he had ripped himself. We determined that the site tags it's MP3's with certain information that the G-DEC or Fender FUSE didn't like.

Loren,

I have had the same problems as the previous users. It started as soon as I plugged in the amp. You and I could not fix it. I have purchased new SD cards and formatted as instructed. As evidenced by the others users with problems it is not a Mac vs PC issue - IT IS A FUSE SOFTWARE ISSUE.

Can you and Fender please take this as a systemic failure instead of a user or 2 who can't figure out how to make their amps work!!!

Come on.... you guys should be able to figure this out....

-Bill-

I never said this may be a PC/Mac issue. What I'm trying to find out now is if it's a Fender FUSE or a G-DEC issue. I'm sure you are aware that troubleshooting software issues can be difficult and the degree of difficulty is multiplied when we are not able to reproduce the malfunction on our systems. I also suspect that, as with the other case I mentioned that MP3's could be the problem. Are your MP3's purchased from a music site or were they ripped from your own CD's. I would suggest trying some WAV files to see if those work at all.

Thanks Loren, I appreciate your help. I will hopefully get the time tonight to try some .wav files. If you have suggestions of sites with the .wav files as backing tracks please let me know. The ones I've tried are only .mp3s. I could email you the link for that site if you think that would help, along with the file names I downloaded. Thanks again.

That would be a tremendous help. You can email them to TSL@fender.com.

Thanks,

:D

Loren,

Sorry for the outburst... I apologize. You have been extremely fast in responding to this forum and offered to talk individually. Great Customer Service!!!

As I "said" I had given up on a fast fix and have been looking at the forum at least every other day to see if the Fuse - SD card issue had been solved. I did not see a fix yet so I vented on you.... sorry again.

Believe it or not once I calmed down I thought I remembered a forum member mentioning he/she formatted the SD card in Disk Utility as a "GUID" or something like that instead of a "Master Boot Record" as I believe your instructions stated.

Well I tried that and voila..... it worked.

No worries Bill,

I'm glad you got it to work and that it was a simple fix. Let me know if you have any other issues.
