I have implemented very crude support for the G-DEC3 on Linux, please see the thread http://www.fender.com/community/forums/viewtopic.php?t=47684 in the G-DEC section for more information.

Fuse works in Virtual Box with windows 7.
It works at 100% however linux users need a windows licence to do this :S .

Pauls Les. About a linux program, if you want I can help you. I have the Mustang I.

Any possibility of Fender staff to help with the connections and data streams between the amps and the computer? Or you definetelly want to hide it and be closed source?

No, I won't be hiding anything. It will be open-source. :)
I'll gladly receive help from Fender. They haven't responded to my thread about it (in the G-DEC section), so I don't know where they stand.
I did update the thread though with a specific request for documentation.

I also added a link to a newly created project-site, so have a look at it yourself. :)

ah sorry, my bad. :)

I'm actually working mostly on the GUI now, as is described in what is currently the only assigned ticket. :)
I appreciate the offer, but I think it's important not to use too high gears in the beginning. I don't have that much time on my hands myself, and then relying on someone who doesn't have that either (as you admitted)... It's easy to just become disorganized and stall, like so many OSS. I have my hands full just managing myself. :)
So I've decided to implement the foundations myself and not trying to take too big steps at a time, and then, when the app is somewhat usable, bring in more coders.

I did that test you can see on the youtube-video in C.
However, I've done the GUI-coding in Python & wxpython. I'll also be using pyusb.

Short answer: Yes.

Longer answer: I've recorded into Ardour from the Mustang 1 by setting it as the Input device in QJackCtl and selecting my M-Audio Delta 66 as the Output device. Works great.

I'm missing something here,
when I plug in mustang it shows up in log
Code:
kernel: [ 1595.735612] generic-usb 0003:1ED8:0004.0004: hiddev97,hidraw2: USB HID v1.10 Device [FMIC Mustang Amplifier] on usb-0000:00:1d.2-2/input0

but there's nothing shown in qjackctl, looks like pulseaudio+jackd is misconfigured. Any hints?
I'm running Fedora 14.

Could be ALSA sound driver as well....but did you click the device icon within jack...I haven't tried it yet...I'm learning Windows for the time being :o) but maybe when I get back to Linux will have some sorta of Fuse thing going.. :) I should really be helping with this..the presets are plain XML files..since apparent Linux seeing/utilizing Mustang device..we just need small proggy to send PRESETs to our AMP. All the other functions in Fuse wouldn;t work until later . I could whip up something with moonlight i'm sure...but I been lazy...sitting in Vista for 2 mths

Your amp should be listed in the Select Device menu in QJackCtl's Setup/Settings tab. It's in the ">" sign to the right of the Input Device drop-down menu. The drop-down menu does NOT list all your devices, so be sure to check for the Mustang Amplifier entry in the correct menu. Select it for your input device, then use what you prefer for your output device. You'll probably have to adjust settings for the best latency value, so let me know how things turn out for you.

Greetings all...

I would think that an open source solution for the mustang could help both the linux community and the fender mustang community.

What would be really nice would be a published api for the mustang that could be used cross-platform. Then we wouldn't be asking for platform specific stuff. People could write their "fuse" type software.

Java maybe?

FWIW, as much as I love the functionality of the fuse software, I find the interface clunky and "heavy" feeling. There is a disparity between moving stuff from the computer to the amp. The slot/color thing doesn't tell you what you're overwriting. Save means one thing with the "amp" selected and another thing with the "computer" - preset management just seems disconnected and weird.

My gut feeling is the opensource community could do some good stuff here.
