Has there been any thought put in on a version of FUSE for people who would like to use it on a LINUX based computer?

Hello,

There are no plans for a Linux version of Fender FUSE at the moment.

I tried to make it work with "Wine", but not start.

It is a serious problem because we have lost one of the main functions of the amplifier.

Someone can help us?

Thanks

Hey Guys,

Just an FYI. Fender FUSE does not support any virtualization software such as Parallels or Wine.

One more hand up requesting fuse for linux.

I bought a fender mustang amp and I have to use a virtualbox for it...not cool.
I think fuse works with windows VB with usb support.

I can use the "input" audio device in my linux machine(audacity works great with it).

I guess the silverlight thing will not be that easy to port...or maybe it is(mono)...Well, bad choice the M$ tools for programming...choices.

Mustang is great btw :).

In this day and age there is no excuse for software to be OS specific. There are many great programs that are cross-platform without the need to code individual versions for different OS's.

Basically it's programmer laziness or lack of programming skills.

Hi,

Dave Phillips here. I maintained the site at linux-sound.org for many years, I once wrote a book about Linux music & sound software, and I currently write a twice-monthly column - about sound & music software for Linux, surprise - for the Linux Journal. I'm a professional musican, I teach and perform, and I've been a user of Fender gear since I began my life as a musician about 45 years ago.

I want to thank Fender for making the Mustang I/II amplifiers. A friend at kvraudio.com wrote to me about his experience with the amp on his Linux and Windows systems. He was enthusiastic about it, so I bought a Mustang 1 from Music123. I love it. It's a great little amp in itself, and I get a sweet USB audio interface with some nice DSP thrown in as well.

My machines are entirely Linux-based. Fortunately the Better Half has a desktop box she rarely uses - it runs Vista, she prefers the XP on her laptop - so I was able to run the FUSE software. Wow, that's a nice way to turn a ~$100US amp into a piece of gear worth maybe four or five times as much.

The software is most helpful, and of course I want to add my voice to the chorus of requests for a Linux version.

@jbloggs : I feel your frustration, but I don't think the programmers were necessarily lazy or lacking skills. At least one of them has a CV at http://careers.stackoverflow.com/jacob-page and he doesn't appear to be lacking sufficient experience. But I agree with you that different choices for framework software would probably have enabled simpler Linux/UNIX cross-platform compatibility.

Best,

dp

Hey Guys,

Welcome to the Fender forums Dave. We would love to expand Fender FUSE and make it available across more platforms, especially Linux. The truth is that Fender FUSE is a Silverlight application and we don't feel that Moonlight has progressed to a point where we we feel comfortable relying on it. Our lead software engineer is a devout Linux user and believe me, he would like nothing more than to be responsible for creating a Linux version of Fender FUSE. As soon as we feel that Moonlight is robust enough to handle it, you'll definitely hear from us.

When that time comes, would any of you here be interested in doing some beta testing for the Linux version of Fender FUSE?

Loren

Hi Loren,

Thank you for the quick reply. I doubt you'll have much trouble finding a beta-tester for a Linux version. I'll certainly be available and willing to try.

Btw, I plan on doing a brief (and very positive) review of the Mustang I in an article I'm preparing for the Linux Journal.

Best,

dp
