I'm just curious. How many people can edit and save presets without crashing?

I haven't had any significant problems with crashing yet. I think I had only one freeze when I was changing rapidly between presets and trying to save to different areas. I was told to "repower" the amp and everything was fine.

I don't have any trouble with system crashes during editing/creating presets.

My fuse software always looses the connection to the amp whenever I try and do anything. Sometimes it will let me add an effect, change a cabinet then crash.

It's very frustrating using this software to do anything with the amp.

I hope Fender fixes this as it is basically usless.

I couldn't imagine any other company putting out crap like this and still being in business. Guess the GDEC line is such a small part of their business model it doesn't really matter to their bottom line.

Sorry you're having such a bad experience. The Fuse software works fine with my G-DEC 3. It certainly isn't useless. I hope Fender can help resolve your problems.

Derrick,

I'm running Vista as well.

Here's my setup;

Dell Insprion 5375 - pentium dual-core cpu E5200 @ 2.5GHz
4G memory
Windows Vista SP1
connected via usb 2.0 port

I tried running it under all the available compatibility modes, but it behaves the same for me no matter which one I use.

I guess we'll have to wait for another update & see if this problem will get addressed.

Joe

Mine crashes in Vista every 5-10 minute irrespective of what I'm doing. Highly unstable.

I am also running Vista SP2, on a Core 2 Quad at 2.67 GHz with 8 GB of ram, and Fuse does not crash when I edit presets.

Is your USB connection going through a USB hub or is it connected directly to your PC? The documentation states not to use a hub.

Did you try connecting to your PC without a hub? If so did your system still crash?

I am running on a 5 year old dell laptop with XP SP3. I have not had Fuse crash. I have lost connection to the GDEC3, but I did a test with the wireless network turned off and worked with it for an hour or so with no problems at all. Hope this helps.

Hello Guys,

Can you give me specific information on the Fender FUSE crashes such as what you were doing (i.e. uploading a preset) and any error messages that you received? I apologize for needing more info but we are unable to frequently reproduce the crashes that you guys are experiencing with Vista.

Also, we recommend that User Account Control be turned off and that the G-DEC 3 be connected directly to the computer and not through a USB hub. To Turn off User Account Control:
Open up Control Panel, and type in “UAC” into the search box. You’ll see a link for “Turn User Account Control on or off”
On the next screen you should uncheck the box for “Use User Account Control”, and then click on the OK button. You’ll need to reboot your computer before the changes take effect.

We appreciate your help in tracking down this issue.

Thanks,
Loren

My OS is Window 7 and is where I suspect there is a problem, something I would call a memory leak, something fill iup memory and it crashes

It crashes most often when I am in the process of editing/creating preset...it seems to crash about 5 to 10 minutes into the process.

I haven't tried to enter or edit mp3s

I'm getting smart now and write down the changes so I can restart both the G-dec and the fuse as requested in the error message. I have also restarted my computer, but it crashes about every 5 to 10 minutes regardless.

It also crashes sometimes when Its just sitting there open and I just tough a key.

It also crashes trying to save to the sd card....which if I understand it correctly isn't worth it any way because you can only import into the g-deg in a rather tedious manner. One at a time.

What I do now is one once I have written down the preset changes, I boot up fuse, quickly enter them, then quickly save to my pc hard disk. Exit quickly sometimes crashes on doing this. Then open the g-dec utility mode and save it using ramdisk by dragging and dropping using windows 7, and avoiding fuse altogether. Sometimes though it crashes before I can do this. But 80% of the time I can do this.

Experimenting with new sounds like changing the amps and pedals usually crashes it before I can figure out what the modded amps sound like. But because I am persistent I have worked through say 30 crash reset gh-dec reboot fuse scenarios and I succeed about 10% of the time so I have a pretty good Idea what the tween champ sounds like and the jazz master.

I do not have fuse connected online and I have the presets on the g-deg unlocked.

Since fuse is a very similar product to the vyzex editor of line six, I'm going to uninstall it and see if that helps and then use a registry cleaner and hopefully remove some of the drivers.

Next I am going to uninstall Riffworks from Sonoma wireworks and see it that helps. It has its own proprietary asio driver which may be conflicting with your generic universa lasio anywhere? driver.

I am not running any other software while I am using fuse and not other software crashes on my computer. I have tried compatibility in windows 7

If I din't really like the amp I would return it because my POD with YXZEX software works really well.

What a drag

See above post for pc specs.
Running the latest version of fuse.
Never had UAC turned on.

I just went into Fuse & got it to crash by doing the following all through Fuse;

Load a preset, scroll through amps starting at Brit Blues up to BlackfaceDrv. (picked each one & played it for a few notes ) Once I got to BlackfaceDrv from BlckfaceDst, the sound of the amp didn't change. So I then changed the volume from about 9 to 2 & it crashed.

Fired it back up;

Pulled up a preset that has "rack" modulation.
Starting at Sine Chorus, checked out each effect until I got to Alienator. Same thing, no change in sound from Sine Tremolo. Changed level from about 3 o'clock to 9 o'clock & it crashed.

This is basically what happens to me every time I use Fuse. Perform 10 or so changes with it & it blows up.

If I look at what's going on in task manager, cpu usage is at about 20% and memory is @ 50% used. The Fuse process is using anywhere from 6 to 16% of the CPU & using a little less than 20,000K of memory. When it crashes it uses roughly another 1,000K of memory & the CPU usage for the process shoots up to a little over 50%.

Let me know if you need any more info.

Joe
