We recently had the privilege of sitting backstage with Jeff Beck, his well-used signature Stratocaster® guitar, and a new G-DEC® 3 Thirty ... and we're pleased to share the results of that session this morning.

We've just added five new Jeff Beck presets to Fender FUSE™ -- so if you're a G-DEC 3 owner, make sure you have your Fender FUSE software installed and then hop over and grab 'em.

Also check out a video clip of Jeff creating his presets over on our G-DEC 3 microsite.

And finally, read the full story and descriptions of the presets in the Fender Blog.

Have fun!

I put the new Jeff Beck presets into the preset folder on my SD card. I can peview them and they sound great but under the preset name it says invalid file and will not let me import. I'm I missing something?

Hi Derrick,

Sorry for the delay in getting to your post. We normally do our best to reply same-day. In regard to the issue you are seeing; there is a known bug in regard to downloading Fender FUSE Presets outside of Fender FUSE. In other words, for the moment, we recommend that you do all your editing upload/downlaoding within the Fender FUSE Application itself, rather than accessing the Fender FUSE Community from a seperate browser.

If you do download Presets from a seperate browser, bring them into Fender FUSE first, then export them to your amp/SD card, etc. This should also work correctly now. Please let us know if this addresses the issue you are seeing.

There is a bug fix coming shortly that will correct these issues. Thanks very much.

So Alan, let me get this straight, as a Mac user of 10.4.11 not only can't I use the FUSE software you haven't even released for us, I also can't use the presets you crow about without that FUSE software. In other words your Preset system can't be used unless you are running Windows and FUSE, and even with that Operating System your FUSE program will crash intermittently.

I should have bought the Line 6 Spider Jam, and saved myself months of waiting for a frustrating product that has wasted several hours of my life.

Gee, I would Brad, but as you well know if you have a Mac OS that is impossible. Could you personally pick up my G-DEC 3 and return all of my money?

Hi Derrick,

I'm really sorry that you are so frustrated. I do understand. I am in touch with one of our Senior Engineers right now to figure out a possible solution to get you up and running with Fender FUSE Public beta for Mac.

Have you tried installing the 09.10.1 package on your 10.4 machine? Is it an Intel or PPC? I will personally continue to work on this, and do my very best to find a solution that will work for you. Please let me know if you are on an Intel or PPC machine.

Again, I apologize for the frustration you have gone through with this. It is our sincere goal here at Fender to take care of customers. And again, I will do my very best to find a solution for you in this case. I will follow up with you tomorrow.

In the mean time, please email me and let me know if you were able to install on OS 10.4 or if you would prefer to wait until tomorrow, and we can go over things more specifically via email or phone. Thanks again Martin.

Sincerely,

All of my machines are running OS X 10.4.11 on PPC. Making a switch to the 10.5 OS would cost me another 200$, just to run Fuse. That won't happen. Add to that the fact your presets can only be used if passed through Fuse (downloading direct to the memory card does not work yet), means I am stuck with the presets that came with the G-DEC 3. Not what I paid for.

The Fuse beta for OS X does not even install on my machines. I did download and try it twice.

Also, I can not even get a email response from IK Multimedia for the AmpliTube software you promised, so I have been stiffed on that as well. The live 8 software does load, but I don't need it. What I needed was the sound potential, and the practice bands. The amplifier itself would be a great little product if the support software you advertised actually existed.

I work. If you call between 8 and ten in the morning I might have time.

Hi Martin10.4,

Again, my apologies for all your frustration. At this point, I am afraid that as with many other Mac developers, Fender is not supporting PPC Macs. Apple itself no longer supports PPC Macs.

With that said, we have been working hard on the web browser Preset compatibility issues. We expect to have the web browser compatibility issues ironed out next week. We are more than happy to assist you with AmpliTube Fender LE & Ableton Live Lite Fender Edition. In order to help you with these apps., we will need for you to please email or contact us directly. We look forward to assisting you. Have a good weekend.

Sincerely,

Why isn't there anything cool like this for the original G-DEC users? We bought the amp, why are we left out?

I've noticed there seems to be very little 'updates' that were talked about in the manual 5 years ago. All the cool stuff is in the new amp, so we're supposed to buy a new one?

Got it in one, my friend. Welcome to the world of modern electronics and Moore's law.

As an added bonus, along with your new amp you can participate in not one but two forums that have rapidly morphed from discussions on how to use the amp features into tedious consumer complaint desks.

Who cares if people complain? We paid the money so we have the right to voice our opinion. If you want to know how to use the amp, read the manual, play around with it, its not rocket science.

But wait! I thought you bought a GDEC rather than GDEC 3. Why are you on my paid for soapbox rather than restricting yourself to the "Original Series GDEC" forum?
