Hey Brad, thanks for getting the thread going but what exactly can we do with the software? I've seen the video on youtube and am eagerly awaiting my new amp as I've preordered it. Heck even my kid is excited and he's only 5.....but I still don't get what the software will allow me to do. Oh and when is the official launch date for the Gdec-3?

Brad, thanks for opening this up. I'm looking forward to finding out more about this Fuse technology.

All of this info, and more, will be coming VERY soon ... so I'd ask for your continued patience. In fact, very soon I'll be handing over the mic here to Loren Howard, our in-house G-DEC® 3 and Fender FUSE™ expert, who will be keeping a watchful eye on the G-DEC 3 and Fender FUSE forums. Just wanted to get everything set up here so we're all ready to go. :-)

Way to go Fender!

Compliments on creating the software & shipping it with the amp, one stop shopping!

Good luck with sales.

I hope that I am not stealing Loren's thunder, but here goes...

Fender FUSE is a new application that we developed here in house at Fender. The application serves as a gateway to additional features for your G-DEC 3. It is a preset editor, library manager, and community portal allowing users to connected with each other and share presets.

As you navigate through presets you will see a nice visual representation of your preset showing the amp model, your FX, Band Track, and other info.

In short, it is an enhancement of your G-DEC 3 experience.

Will Fender Fuse run under Windows Vista? The documentation only mentions Windows XP.

Never mind I just found the info I was looking for.

Can the Fuse software be run from a non-Admin account on Windows Vista?

Fender FUSE cannot be installed on a non-admin account without entering the admin password.

I was able to install Fuse from a non-admin account by entering the Admin password. Installing the software isn't the issue.

Microsoft suggests that you should use your PC from a non-admin account for tighter security.

I'm able to run Fuse from a non-admin account after I enter the admin password. The Presets are saved to the admin account directories instead of the standard users directory. Will this cause any issues?

Will future versions allow the software to be run from standard user accounts in Vista?

In order for a new default Fender folder to be created in a non-Admin account, User Account Control must be disabled. This is an issue that is unique to Vista. Windows XP and Windows 7 do not have this issue. And yes, it will be fixed in a future version of Fender FUSE.

I have read the Fuse documentation, and I understand that it allows you to modify or create presets that you could not create directly on the G-DEC itself. Does the G-DEC then need to be connected to Fuse to use those presets or will they still work stand alone?

The G-DEC manual doesn’t go into detail on each of the effects menu options. Is it possible to turn on all 4 effect types from the G-DEC itself or is that something that can only be done from Fuse?

The Fender G-DEC 3 can "load" any Preset created in Fender FUSE and vice versa. The only reason that the more advanced editing options aren't available on the amp itself is that we didn't want the editing options on the amp to be so "deep" that it gets in the way of ease of use. Once a preset is created that uses these advanced options the G-DEC 3 will play the preset but the advanced options will not be "tweak-able" from the amplifier when used stand-alone.

As far as turning on or off the effects types, this can all be done on the amp itself. Every parameter that can be adjusted in Fender FUSE is also available on the amp with the exception of some of the more advanced compressor controls, reverb decay, diffusion, and tone and a few other things such as the tone stack switch and timbre.

Hope that helps.
Loren
