Stick a fork in it. Fender would like you to forget Fuse. They are now launching Fender Tone: New Mustang GT Amp and Fender Tone App

Just to !@$ this one in the bud, check out https://support.fender.com/hc/en-us/art ... with-Tone- It's a Support article about Tone and written for Tone users, but gives insight into the question being posed here.

Looked at the link, didn't really answer any questions for me.

I'm planning to pick up a GT40 tomorrow (if my local GC still has them in stock), but I also have a Mustang III that I still plan to use, and I worry about how much longer Fuse is going to work - it's written using the totally obsolete and unsupported MS Silverlight, for heck's sake! And it would be awesome to have a version of Fuse that would run on an iOS device. If questions about the future of Fuse were answered in the link, I'm too dense to understand :?

Let's see about translating this bit of Fender-speak from the support page that Mr Traweek has pointed us towards:

"The FUSE software and experience will remain intact as-is for existing users."
Fuse has now been officially discontinued. No updates to Fuse itself. All previously suggested feature requests will not be implemented for Fuse. Continue to use Fuse for your current setup if you wish.

"Your FUSE user account will automatically be migrated to a Fender Connect account, and you'll be asked to set a new password on your next sign into either FUSE or Fender Connect to complete the transition.
Fender Connect is "... your account for Fender web sites and mobile apps."
Your Fuse account (not the app itself) needs to be removed and migrated to the new setup. Because Fuse is a dead end, everything that had "Fuse" as a named component needs to be updated.

"All FUSE presets will also be available as Tone presets. The FUSE presets you've created will be associated with your new Fender Connect account, which will be automatically available to you in Fender Tone (if you choose to upgrade to a Mustang GT amplifier)".
This part is good news/bad news. Fender has made Tone capable of using all current presets made in Fuse. That's the good news. The bad news comes at the end of that statement: "...if you choose to upgrade to a Mustang GT amplifier". Why is that important? Well, let's go to a support article page elsewhere on this site:

Can Fender Tone be used without a Mustang GT amp?
"There's currently no functionality that makes Fender Tone™ app useful to players without a Mustang™ GT amplifier."

So the short answer to that question is: no. If you download Tone and intend to use it with your amp, it must be a Mustang GT amp. If you don't have a GT amp, you can use Fuse, but not Tone.

@Mr Traweek: I'm not quite sure what you're nipping in the bud. Fuse is over, Tone is the new game in town. Yep, we can still use Fuse, with our current amps. Just like we've been doing for the last five years.

ARX320, I'm merely our "web guy" here and just trying to help point to some info on the topic. IF we can all mutually agree to engage in meaningful conversation without inflammatory commentary associated, I'm happy to share in a little more depth what I know about Fender FUSE. Some of what you've stated above is absolutely correct, while some is incorrect. But ... I can't really go into further detail if everything I say here gets "picked apart," so to speak - I had to distance myself from this particular subforum in the past for that very reason.

I'm also locking this thread for no other reason than that - while I think it's a reasonable topic for discussion - I honestly don't really care for the title of it. Sorry. :D Happy to engage in further discussion, but if we're going to do it we need to start it out on the right foot.
