AmpliTube Fender® SE

So my pondering is: is it worth all the effort downloading something that might not be any different from the stuff I already have installed on my Mustang II v2

Amplitube is basically a modeler plugin for DAWs, although it can be used standalone. Amplitude Fender is a bunch of models for it for modeling Fender amps, and requires Amplitube to be useful.
Amplitube isn't meant to be used with the Mustang. It can be used live with a PA to make it sound like you go through any amp it has models for, or with a DAW to emulate mic'ing one of those amps for recording.

Glad I read this, had a similar question. Confusing when the codes for download are included with your mustang amp. But now I know, if I ever go all the way to stage, I have options.

I assume Ableton is the more commonly used DAW for Amplitube...as they are included this way.

This download gives you very few amp simulations and they want you to purchase more in order to get the sound your looking for . I deleted mine after downloading it and seeing it did offer as much as I wanted . I already had the Bias FX amp simulator and fx processor for my daw .

Just to mention. Ableton is not necessary to record, but it's good, included with fuse. It's included, and you can on that license only record 4 or 5 track if I remember. So there is limitations if you don't pay more.

There is record software, and you have this DAW (Digital Audio Workstation), as Amblitube. Digital Amps and pedals.

You can use Audacity for recording (it's free and easy), But better is Positive Grid Reaper (It's free and can be used professionally and it's easy to, but they would like you to purchase after 30 days. Your not forced to do that. It's their philosophy). The other record program your forced to pay more money. I can recommend Reaper, free or cheap as you wish or have afford to, but it's very good. They can be used with our Fender Mustang amp.

Or else there is a multitude of digital amps for computer, and they begin to be good. But not necessary to have to get our Fender Mustang going.

You have Amblitude as mention before, Pod Farm, Bias FX and BIAS amp, Guitar Rig 5, Peavey Revalver 4, Schuffham S-Gear, Overloud TH3, Slate Digital.

Amplitube is not the best or the cheapest. But I recommend trying some of the other out. Especially, Bias FX, Guitar Rig 5, Overload TH3 and Slate Digital, oh forgot Revalver. The last one is good, and you have a multitude of amps and effects.

What I mean by good, is the sound, but also, you get the hole deal once purchased. With amplitude your forced to purchase an never ending purchase for new amps and effects, and it cost much. But check out what's included in the packs with amp and effect with the other, one time purchase.

I use my Fender Mustang, but when moved to another house, everything sounded like playing inside a paper box. So I was forced to go digital in an even more radically way. But will of course keep my Fender Mustang IV forever. And PS, there are way to get the software for the one that don't have the money ;) But give the one that you like and use your support when time have afford. Or else there is demo versions of the DAWS, and some you get some free amps.

Just remember, always check the house you move to for a sound test!
