I have had my Mustang for about 3 months. Still getting used to it all. I huge step up from the Line 6 Spider III. When I first was messing with it it sounded awesome. Last week I brought it to a gig where our lead guitarist had trouble with his BOSS or Digitech getting any volume out of the PA speakers. I think he was going through a DI box but am unsure. I let him use my Mustang, and he sounded great. Plenty of volume. But last night and today I wanted to practice and now my Mustang sounds very different. Very clean. I can't find any crunch at all. Aussie Rock sounds like crap. What could have happened? Did my friend change all my presets? I did the reset trick but it doesn't sound any different. I downloaded some presets and they sound clean too. I really need to go to school on this amp. Somebody help a newb out.

As you have probably discovered, the Mustang's versatility is in the customized Presets. Of the 100 Presets, 17 are basic modeled Amps. These are by Factory Default in Memory slots 83 to 99. Each of these have different Volume, Gain, and Drive Levels. The real magic is found in the Advanced deep Amp page 2 menu accessed by pressing the Amp button 2x! Here you can customize the Sag, Bias, Noise Gate, Cabinet Simulation, and more for each Amp selected in each Preset. Once you dial this in the Mustang really shines.

The other 83 Presets (Memory 00-82) are examples of a modeled Amp often in combination with one or more FX selections.

Each of the Presets have their own Amp values and very different volume levels.

Once you do the Master Factory Reset on the Amp any of your customized tweaks are gone, unless you used FUSE to first back up the Presets. Absent that, you are starting from scratch.

Whatever you did during your first 3 months improved the Amps sound. And you can rediscover that again.

One good way to go is by adjusting the levels such that their Volume levels are more alike when the Master Volume is unchanged.

If you have an Android device get the Remuda App from the Google Play App Store. It makes deep editing the Amp, FX and Presets quick and easy! Remuda is not a substitute for FUSE, however it has many features unavailable from FUSE. Remuda also remembers your Amp and FX settings! And it has Drag and Drop rearranging of Presets and the Signal Chain!

Do you recollect what Amp models and any of their settings and any FX and their settings you had been using?

With FUSE you can also download other Presets for use with the Amp. If you got your Amp used, there may have been any sort of tweaks and downloads in the Presets.

Hope this helps.
