Harley,
Another DAW you should check out is Reaper.
It's much more capable than Audacity and can be "evaluated" for free as long as you want. When it comes time to pay (assuming you decide to buy it) the price is only $60.00 which is extremely reasonable considering it's capabilities and quality.

If I were you I'd avoid the the computer mic i/p and get yourself a quality USB audio interface.
One thing you might try is feeding the output from your mixing board into the aux input on the G-Dec and then take the USB input from it into your DAW.
The G-Dec samples at 16-bit depth and I believe 48KHz so doesn't have the same headroom/sample rate as most of the audio interfaces that are available, but you have it which means no added expense.

Hi Wheelman,

Thank you for the tip. I'll look into Reaper, but I already know Audacity, and Vegas, and both are very easy to use DAW's.
I'm inclined to agree with you about getting an audio interface. I'm looking at a Steinberg UR242, or UR44 to connect my mixing desk to.
The idea of running the audio into the AUX in on the G-Dec might work a little better than the Mic i/p on the laptop, but still, it's the weak link in the audio chain. Besides, The G-Dec isn't the only amp I would use to record with. I would also want to be able to record my Cyber Deluxe rig, the Twin Reverbs, and the PS400 rig, and each of my ADA rigs. Those are just my various guitar rigs. I also want to be able to record drums, bass, vocals, keys, and horns. That's why getting my mixing desk in the equation is a priority to me.
Thank you for your help, I really appreciate it!

Hey Alex,

I finally had some time to sit around and mess with the edits on my amp, and I came up with a nice lead tone that I had a ball playing around on with my Stratocasters. I've uploaded this to the community presets, so feel free to give it a go and let me know what you think. It's uploaded under the name Hexxe 1.

Enjoy!

Hey Gang,

Ok, new question here. I've begun editing some personal presets, and have managed to save them to SD card with backing tracks. I try to load these into the G-Dec 3 and save each in a location there, but the backing tracks don't seem to save. The presets save, and the backing tracks will load if the SD card is plugged in, but if I remove the SD card, or scroll to another preset, the backing track goes away. Am I doing something wrong when I'm trying to save these?

Thanks,

Harley 8)
