Really surprised how well the G-DEC does in acoustical modes with my Martin OMC, so I was wondering if it could amplify my classical using a microphone. Is it worth trying? (I don't have a mike) And if it is, what is a good mike to use? (affordable!)

Dear gauchodee,

Thanks for your inquiry. There are no Microphone inputs on any of the G-Dec Amps, if you were to use a microphone you would need to use an XLR Female To 1/4"" Male Adapter. You could then try any condenser microphone that fits your budget and determine if it works for you.

I hope this helps and please let us know if we can assist you further.

Best Regards,

thanks. I hadn't even looked at the inputs on the back. You are (of course) correct.

I've got a feeling that an XLR/1/4" adapter probably isn't going to yield a workable (to the ear) solution, but I'll look into it.

Thanks again for your assistance.

If there is no microphone input, there is no phantom power either - so certainly not "any condenser microphone" will work.

What about using something like a Dual USB Pre (by ART)? It accepts an XLR or a 1/4 input, has 1/4" outputs, and can provide phantom power - would that work?
