Hi,

I have a G-DEC Junior. After few seconds from powered up the red led is blinking and the device is stop working. I hear a ticking sound and after a while i don't hear anything.

Sometimes is working very fine and after some minutes the red led is blinking and so on.

I'm engineer in electronics and microchip desing partner. I have some skills and I make some measurements on pcb with my scope.

The conclusion is that dsp dont't have the clock signal on pin 176, and codec_reset is low and keeps the cs4271 in reset mode.

Please help me to solve this problem. I have a little boy that needs this device.

Thank you very very much.
Catalin Juganaru.

Hi,

I solve the problem. It is very nice how you monitor +5Vdd and if is less do DSP_RESET and so on.

It was a problem with a diode from rectifier bridge which generate a glitch in 11.5 Vdd with some frequency and 7805 carry forward to the MC34064. It sense this and make a DSP_RESET. I change the diode and everything works fine.

Thank you very much,
Catalinj

I have the exact same problem, and the local tech guys do not deal with this sort of thing and Fender reps just want me to buy a new one. This amp came in a package set and sat unused in its plastic case for close to a year before we tried it out (I previously gave my son a Champion 110 and a multi-effects board so this amp was not even looked at. Unfortunately, when we did, it crapped out with the blinking power light and essentially powered down. Even using as a metronome with no guitar plugged in, this defective amp craps out after 1-2 minutes.

I am not an electrical engineer and quite frankly a little pissed that instead of fixing this problem, Fender now offers a different, less complex, amp with their package deals, and have chosen to ignore, or forget that they goofed up with this amp. I would love to be able to return it, but......returns not accepted on this product, as it is no longer available for purchase.

Maybe I should try out Marshall, Orange, or Peavey for my next purchase.
