Hi
I just purchased a used (though looks mint) G-DEC 3 Thirty (No manual other than the index card attached around the handle). I'm currently downloading the 'factory-reset' file because the (a?) previous owner deleted all the band tracks. Now, in the process of searching for these files, I have become increasingly alarmed that this amp will not serve the purpose for which it was purchased: background tracks on loop with adjustable tempo (adjustable 'key' would be nice too). Basically, I selected this amp so that I could work out (guitar-wise, of course) with a band instead of a metronome.

So, for example, I could set the tempo to 120 BPM and practice a riff or whatnot; then when I'm comfortable with being able to keep up strongly, I would increase the BPM to 125 and repeat.

I have no other use for this amp; can it perform this 'fancier metronome' function?
Thanks

Hi and welcome to the forum.
The Band tempo can be changed (in % terms). See pp 7&8 in the advanced GDec3 manual which is available here viewtopic.php?f=25&t=44869
cheers,
Alex

edit..You can also change the tempo (or pitch) via fuse...click on the band button to bring up the menu and make your changes.

 I still don't get it. I have a G-DEC 3 Fifteen. The display is set to METRONOME 4-4.MID The 4 soft keys are labelled QA1/QA2/QA3/Loop. TheLoop is set so the metronome plays. How do I set the tempo? Please don't refer me to page 7 of the Advanced User Manual, I have been over and over that manual and I cannot find the answer. Can anyone spell it out step-by-step? I would really appreciate your help.

Hmmmm,
I'm not sure that I understand your display. I have a G-Dec 3-30 and when I turn it on, preset 1 shows on the display and towards the bottom of the display, the associated band track. In my case it happens to be a .wav file. Underneath the band track name, there are 4 functions listed: AMP, FX, BAND and PHRASE - each of which can be accessed by pressing the associated button beneath. It sounds like you have pressed the FX button to get the display that you've reported.
Do you want to play metronome 4-4 mid?
If so, exit to the main display (exit/hold for util button, far right, below the grey wheel) and the display should now show your preset and metronome 4-4 mid as the band track and the 4 sub menus should read AMP, FX, BAND and PHRASE.
To change the tempo, press the BAND button and then use either the right or left button (of the 4 buttons) to scroll through the submenus until you have gotten to TEMPO. TEMPO must show over the middle 2 buttons.
You can now change the tempo (in bpm) using the grey wheel. I just tried this with the midi file 3-4_Metronome and it worked perfectly.
This procedure also works to change the speed (in % terms) of a wav or mp3 band track, though the sub sub menu you want is speed.
In passing, I should note that I did this just now by following the procedures in the Advanced GDec 3 manual on pages 7 and 8.
Cheers,
Alex

THANK YOU MR. A. I have it now. That's great. Now the only thing I need to know is, why do we park on a DRIVEway and drive on a PARKway?

Good one, Ben!
Glad it worked for you. I agree that the manual could be clearer, though in fairness to Fender, I have seen much worse ones 8)
Best,
Alex
