I have been tossing and turning and haven't made my mind up. Been readin up on the G-DEC and Line 6 Spiderjam and wondered how much truth there is that the backing tracks on the Line 6 are better / more real feeling. Can anyone tell me one way or the other (finding a shop with both seems to be difficult near me, might end up having to buy online). I have a prejudice to Fender compared to Line 6.

I also read that Line 6 is building a pedal (JM 4 Looper) that will do what the spyderjam does in a floorboard. So that got me thinking in buying that and a Fender amp, but this pushes the costs up.

cheers
Dennis

Different people have different preferences and use equipment in different ways. So, for anyone to say that one unit is definitely better than the other would need some explaination.

It has been a few years since I have operated Line 6 equipment, but I have some questions to think about to help you make a decision.

Are you using the backing tracks for a one person band playing live or just for practice? For practice, who cares. For playing live, the G-Dec 30 allows you to build your own or buy backing tracks and store them in the amp with presets already linked. Will the line 6 equipment do this also?

The G-Dec has inputs for mp3, cd, etc. for play along in addition to the backing tracks.

There are many companies building looping pedals. There are several software packages for your home PC that will loop. The base G-Dec gives you 14 seconds, the -30 gives you 28 seconds. If you need more, I would look at significantly less expensive software and skip the pedal. Of course, this depends on how you practice.
