I have sort of decided to go for the Fender product. I just don't get good vibes with the Line 6 Spider Jam. Seems to be a bit too complicated and heavy metal orientated.

Could someone tell me what the big difference is between the two G-dec members. The obvious I know is power output, speakersize, foot switch and outputs on the back. but are there any other differences.

Just need to know if I should go for the extra expense or not. If I go for the little one I also have a speaker from a Vox cambridge available if the stock speaker is a little weak. (Celestion Bulldog 8", 8 ohms).

cheers
Dennis

There are a few differences. Picking one depends on how you intend to use the amp.

The most appearent change is the the extra 15 watts and larger speaker of the Gdec-30. It is not only louder, but the larger cabinet seams to have a better, deeper tone with better lower frequency response and a fuller sound.

The Gdec-30 has right and left line outs, missing from the Gdec. If you are planning to record or play gigs using a PA system, this is very handy. A related feature is the ability to separate the the guitar in and the backing track and send one to the speaker and the other to the line outs.

The Gdec-30 has a speaker out. This is very hand for a number of things. If you get a base Gdec, I would recommend adding one to the amp.

Although both can play MIDI files, the Gdec-30 can hold down loaded MIDI files. This is handy for the "one man band" thing. You can down load your set to the amp and play without having to carry a laptop to play MIDI.

The Gdec-30 has a "song editor." You can build a song and assign it 3 different patches. These patches are selectable.

Both amps have a phrase sampler allowing you to practice against a recording or yourself. The base Gdec holds 14 seconds. The Gdec-30 holds 28 seconds and adds the ability to over dub a recorded phrase.

For the extra $100.00, I would opt for the Gdec-30; however, I'm intending to use mine while playing at a church where most of the added features will be used. If you intend to use the amp for giving/receiving lessons or just home practice, save some money and go for the base Gdec.

The foot switch can work the tuner, phase sampler and select between the assigned patches for a song.
