I have owned my G-DEC3 amp for 2 years or so. I have adjusted many of the presets to cater to my needs as they have popped up over time. I have used this cheap (< not an insult but a backward compliment) little amp in many a recording session and it has performed very well.
But until recently, I have never really had much use for the backing track part of the amp. I dialed in a few from time to time to play around with scales or whatever. But never used the pre programmed tracks because I found most of them too goofy. I guess an example would be the "For the Love of God" track. It's just a short loop allowing only for the A section melody line and then you had to start improve or you were just playing in circles. And while it's kind of fun....I found no practical use for it. I have used the SD card for gigs from time to time to lay down some jazz backing tracks and give my audiences a little diversity during solo performances.
So lately I have been working a lot with some pretty great country bands. I found myself kind of lagging in the chicken pickin, Jerry Reed, Brad paisley kick $@! country playing. I picked out a few loops and used them for practice. I put some good country rhythms on the SD card and have been practicing with them. So I went to the Fender site and found the "Country Edition" upgrade. So I downloaded it along with the metal and blues. But to my utter dismay.......it was pretty much the same tracks as the factory preset amp came with, without the grind stuff. There were absolutely no new tracks on there and it's a stretch to call most of it country of any kind. I went to the "download tracks" page and the same old tracks are there that were there when I purchased this amp. My question is........Is that it???? Does Fender not ad to the backing tracks in their catalogue? Is it me or is the upgrade deal kind of a rip off? I don't care about the effects presets. Any guitar player who understands even the most rudimentary theory of sound can dial in any sound they want in seconds. It was the backing tracks I was after. I was under the impression that new tracks would be added to over time.
So am I missing something here? Is that all there is to this? And if not......where do I go to expand the music base of the amp?
The G-Dec3 is a good little amp and the sound itself pays for it. I guess I'm hoping to stretch my dollar in hopes that the backing tracks are as good as the sound. If not....the amp has paid for itself 100 times over already so it's not really a big deal.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks: Mark

Mr. Schwartz: I think that you need to face the reality that the Fender forum is a lame duck.
I probably won't be posting here any more or even updating my equipment for that matter. Why bother??? You guys keep changing the amp setups so often that whenever you by a series of the Mustang, just a few months later a new series of the same amp comes out and the amp you purchased is "obsolete" with no support. It's friggin ridiculous. The solid state series (much like the all Mexican tube amps made by Fender) has played it's hand. I'm going back to my older Laney amps. At least I know where their parts were made and where they were assembled. Not to mention, they charged a fair price for a good amp. Fender is now charging outrageous prices for amps that they're having made for half the cost, by people in countries that could care less about American quality. Very sad. Fender use to care about the musicians who played their equipment. Now all they care about is what's in their wallets.
I have been through these forums and won't hesitate to say that there isn't a professional musician or good tech person within a hundred miles of this place.
So thanks for your efforts but I got no time to keep checking empty threads and posting for ghosts.

There have been exactly 2 versions of the Mustang amps, v1 and v2, and they were released years apart. Fender also continues to support the v1 amps here on the forum and via phone/email support. There just haven't been any recent firmware updates for the v1 amps, and honestly I don't see what's left to update with the v1 amps. :?:

Hi Mark,
Mr. Schwarz was my dad, but thanks anyway.

Sorry to read you're unhappy with the Forum and Fender, but thanks for sharing your opinions.

On the upside, checked out your reverbnation page. not bad at all, fwiw.
If ya get a chance, check out Strings10927 youtube page...pretty good stuff there too.

All the best,
rob

A couple of ideas:

You can do a google search for backing tracks in wav format that loop. You could visit the eBand JS-8 website (hope I'm not breaking any rules by posting this) and download their backing tracks.

That's all I have. :D

lately, I've just been going on youtube and searching backing tracks there. For my purposes, it doesn't have to be CD quality. Here's an example search: http://www.youtube.com/results?search_q ... ack+guitar
