How can I change presets while playing over a backing track?

I have one the Hal Lenard books with the SD card and the backing tracks come with several presets to play through the different parts of the songs (i.e. one for the verse and one for the chorus)

How do I switch between the different presets for the song while the backing track plays continuously?

I have the footswitch - is there a way to do this with the footswitch? You know, to play through the song start to finish with the different tones the way it should sound.

Any help is much appreciated! Thanks guys!

Hi McLovin34,

Our apologies for the delay in responding. You can use the Fender® ULT 4 or even the Fender MS-4 foot switch to quickly move between Presets on your amp. You need to press the "Quick Access" button on the left hand side of the front panel of the amp. There you will see "QA1" "QA2" and "QA3". Simply press and hold each button while you navigate to the Preset you would like to use. Once you have selected the Preset for QA1, release the button under the QA1 name and go to QA2 and QA3 and repeat these steps. Then when you use the foot switch in QA Mode, you can recall these Presets by pressing the three QA buttons.

Please let us know if we can assist further.

Best Regards,

The OP wanted to know how to change presets while playing continuously over a track. In other words, he wants one sound for the verse and maybe another for the solo of a backing track. You advised him to use the QA buttons. Are you saying that I can change sounds without changing or interrupting the track by using the QA buttons? It sure seems like that was your answer. I tried it, as this is one of my gripes with the G-DEC. I would be very interested to find a way to do this, but I don't think it is possible with the G-DEC.

Result: It didn't work for me. When I hit the QA button, the track changed to match the track for the each QA preset. I didn't think this would work, and sure enough, it didn't. or I am I missing something?

Fender Support - Perhaps you didn't understand the question? Or maybe I don't understand the question? :?

Play the backing track using a media player on the computer, or plug a media player device into the AUX.

Right, that's a workaround. It kinda takes away from the G-DEC being an all-in-one/standalone solution. I have JamVox on my PC, and while it is a crappy amp, it's awesome for switching presets, as you can actually program it to switch them for you at predetermined points during the track, or you can do it yourself w/o interrupting the track. Not good for loops obviously, but awesome for backing tracks like the Hal Leonard ones.

A feature like this would be great on the G-DEC - create the track on your computer with predetermined preset switching, load it to your amp (via SD would be awesome!) and you're good to go. In my mind, the G-DEC presets should be based on the track with a sound (or sounds) attached to that track, not a sound with a track attached. If it worked that way, switching presets on the fly would probably work.

Of course, the G-DEC has been dropped, so I'm wishing for enhancements for obsolete gear!

Hi Joedrumma,

Apologies for the misunderstanding here. I don't know that the amp will do exactly what you are looking for. But what you can do is to use the "Quick Access" mode to select and play a variety of different Band Tracks while using a specific Preset. And you can also switch between the 3 "QA" Presets while playing a selected Band Track in the Quick Access window. And as strings10927 suggested, a smart device or media player connected to the Aux input would an additional option. Please let us know if we can assist further.

Best Regards,

I'm the one who needs to apologise. I completely missed the part about having to stay in QA mode in order to switch on the fly. I get it now. Thanks for clearing that up for me. Totally my misunderstanding and my bad. :?
