Well folks just sold my Gdec 30 yesterday on ebay. Sold it to a fellow in Texas. Had some good times with it but I have been pretty much using a different system for my gigs lately. Figured someone else could have some fun with it too. Thanks everybody on this forum.

Hi Frank...
Sorry to see you go; all the best and thanks for all your help and advice. What are you using instead of the GDec for your gigs?
Best,
Alex

Lol, kind of feels that way sometimes here in G-DEC forumland!
Maybe everyone is too busy playing and enjoying their amp. Mine sure seems rock solid. I play through it every day!

I've only had my G-DEC 30 for a short time but I am learning how to use it slowly. Of course, if I could play worth a darn, I would get a lot more use out of it

I always read any new messages in the G-DEC forum.

Thanks Jerry...
We're now at three.....a crowd in some quarters
My GDec is rock solid as well.....I don't know what I'd do if I had to replace it. I suppose that the 5 year warranty gives me some peace of mind, but after that :?
What you (and I) need to take our guitar playing to the next level is the Phoenix Pro. Here's a video..

cheers,
Alex

If I still own my G-DEC after 5 years, I think I'm going to disassemble it, and build it into a new cabinet with 12" speaker(s). (Might even add a mid-range and replace the tweeter)

You got me on that Phoenix Pro. I watched the vid, going "Whaaaa??"

Doing a little online digging (I should've realized from the LARGE type of the date), well...it's still a cool video, even for April 1!

What? It's not for sale?? No wonder the music store hasn't returned my calls :?
Bigger speaker(s) sounds interesting...I still like running the line outs into my Zoom recorder and into a pair of studio monitor speakers. Not so portable, though.
I see you in the future with a Marshall stack or better yet, an array like the Grateful Dead used in their shows. You'll need a bigger practice room of course, but that should be doable
I look around occasionally at other modelling amps, but still haven't found one that has the features of the GDec (the SD card option, in particular). Ah well, in a few years I may be playing a different instrument...kazoo comes to mind! Or ear trumpet if I don't turn down the volume.
cheers...

HA! can't get rid of me that easy folks. har har. I am now using a Bose L1 m1 with 2 b1 bass packs. I use a Boss ME-70 foot pedal. I have a small netbook I use to run my backing tracks. Just need something a little more versatile I guess. Kind of miss that little amp for practicing though.

I think there are other lurkers on here like me. I still use my 3-30 nearly every day. Even if they added an SD card to the Mustang line, I'm not sure the upgrade would be worth it, IMO. I added Wah and tuner pedals in front of it and it works great. I want to try the Boss FB-2 next. It has everything else I need at this point. Fender and community patches have been great. I do wish I had more time to tweak some custom tones out of it!

Wow. I haven't been on this forum in a while, but I am still using both the new and old model G-DECs every day. In the old days I had to own a bunch of the G-DEC 30s to handle all the backing tracks I was using for solo performances.

Image

Having had some failures with the amps, I was forced to take a main and a backup to every gig and since I was doing a wide range of music, I used three pairs of G-DECs because, as we all know, loading songs into the old G-DECs was a real chore.

Now I am using two of the G-DEC 3 Thirty amps and I carry several different SD cards, some with alphabetical songs and some with songs arranged into sets. I sold three of the old G-DECs to friends, but I've no plan to sell any of the last five I currently own.

I had one, sold it, then bought the last one at the music store I go to. It stopped working after 4 months (something was rattling around inside the chassis). I brought it back to the place I got it and they sent it back to Fender a couple months ago. It is under warranty but with it being a discontinued amp, I wonder why it's taking so long (maybe they will just send the music store/me back a new one) I wonder if they are still making spare parts or whatever to deal with the other amps that get sent back, all over the world, under the "5 year" plan. Well, I hope to get it back soon, as it is a really great amp for learning.
