I`ve read most of the threads on this amp and I see a lot of pros and cons related to it. I`m thinking about getting one but after reading about the things that go wrong with them I`m wondering if its a good choice. Would any of the G-Dec 30 owners here recommend this amp or is it an amp that has ongoing problems ?

Hi JPD, I just got a G-DEC 30 after having a G-DEC 15 for a few years. I've read posts concerning problems with both models. I've never had any issues with the 15 the whole time I've used it. While I can't comment on the overall reliability of the 30, I can say that it hasn't had a glitch in the week that I've been using it so far.
Regarding forum posts about problems, I believe the vast majority of people who are not having any issues with their products are not posting about them in support forums. The few who are posting about experiencing difficulties may give the mistaken impression that many of the units are malfunctioning.

With that in mind, I wouldn't hesitate to try one out. Fender's excellent warranty, plus the return policy of whomever you buy it from should be enough to reassure you that in the rare case of some sort of malfunction, you will likely be compensated with a new unit, or at least a refund.

If you really want it, go for it! :)

Hi and thanks for that info. I was at a local Sam Ash this morning talking with the salesman about the amp and he said he never heard any issues with them so he basically said the same thing as you. I was glad to hear your happy with yours and I`ll probably be getting one soon.

Have had mine now for several months... great right out of the box, and have no problems whatsoever...just be aware that this is for practice and fun, I wouldn't recommend it for gigging... However if your doing a gig for the friends and family its totally cool.

Bill, thanks for your input on that amp. I`m using it in the home not for gigs so it should be fine. I`m glad to hear yours is working well and your happy with it. I`m going to order one this Saturday.

If you can afford the foot switch as well, I recommend getting one. It makes changing settings and other functions much more convenient. One cool feature is that the LEDs on the foot switch work with the tuner for a nice visual effect, with red lights for + or - and a green light for in tune.

Strat Cat, thanks for the advice. I was planning on getting a foot pedal in a few months.

Hey Stray Cat!
Just got my G-Dec 30 and Fender foot swithc in the mail. I have a question "Did you have to put a battery in the foot switch" This may sound stupid but I plug the switch into the back with supplied cord, turn on the G-Dec 30 the foot swith does'nt light up or do anything? and by the way the jack does't fit all the way into the jack in back of the amp? Just got this two hours ago so I am not sure if the amp is bad or the foot switch the G-Dec seems to pay fine. Just the foot switch is dead?

What you think?

Sorry I haven't responded earlier. Did you get it working? The only questions I would ask are, do you have it in the right hole? Can you get it all the way in?

Does anybody know the part number and price of the footswitch for a G-Dec 30 ? It's not listed on the Fender web site but talked about in the manual. Had my G-Dec 30 for 6 months.. never had a problem.

Guy, the part number for the footswitch is 0994070000...If you look on this web site under amplifiers, and click on G Dec 30, look under specs and you`ll see the number that I gave you there. It cost around $ 75.

i've had mine for a few weeks now. It's a great amp for use with honing your chops, especially with the E-MU 1x1 USB/MIDI Interface which allows you to download songs to the amp, besides the pre-loaded songs.

I use a software app to mix and create loops also and then download to the amp or just stream the file from a computer.

It's fun, fun, fun! 8)

I've had a 15 and now have a 30. I recommend the 30; more capibility and better sound.

I think. as posted earlier, the people with problems post and the ones that don't have problems are too busy playing.

I'm sure there are common problems, but only on a very small percentage of the units.

I'm not in a band anymore and I think this thing is great to be able to jam with a band behind you not to mention the utter nonsense you have to sometimes put up with when you have real members of a band. It is just a practice amp but with all the other features such as a band behind you this thing can be a real lot of fun. Generally this is a practice amp and not recommended as a gigging out amp but if you mike it up through a good PA system then you surely would be able to use this at a club.
