I was considering one of these G DEC JR as a replacement for a competetors 15 W 8" practice amp.
1. Question, what about EQ on the tones? Just a "tone" knob. Is it sufficient? Are you expected to tweak tone on the instrumnet in conjunction .What if you want to lower the bass response.Isnt tone just full bass with treblel added in as you turn up the pot? Maybe have to run EQ pedal after GDEC and before amp and out to big cabinet....
2.Also being closed cabinet ,any problems w/h overheating the amp when pushing it? I do have an extension cab (4x10 and a high watt head-no eq though)when I need to get loud.
3.Is there a way to run strait up clean into the amp with no effects or amp models,or a way to tweak the amp modles?
4.Lastly, the updateable tones and updates ,firmware ect available on fender .com ,can they be midi'd to the GDec JR like the other bigger models? Thanks forums guests.

To answer my own post ,Ive had it for a few weeks now.
1 . The tone knob ,in comination with amp model and guitar tone settings is enough to get the tone you want . For the purpose of a simple practice amp ,you wont miss them,IMO. You can quickly nail the tone you want...
2. It gets hot ! If it dies prematurly, well the 5 year warranty may apply!
3. To get pure clean input ,you can plug into the regular input and choose "acoustic" amp model,or better yet plug into the rear aux. input using a 1/4 to 1/8 adapter, depending what youre plugging in(drum machine,mp3 ,second guitar ect.)
4. The firmware updates, pc amp model tweaking - none work on the JR,only work on the regular GDECs

So all in all its a great practice amp, great tone with my single coil strat. I like all the amp models and the knobs are easy to remember the positions of . I dont need to look at the amp to adjust settings ect.

This is not a real loud amp, and I wouldnt try to play with a drummer.
The amp is a little noisy, a noise gate should be included for this much money. Line 6 has one on their $99.00 amp!
The backing tracks are very simple ,almost cheesy-but just what the doctor ordered for quick practice or traveling. A least the grooves are basic, and dont detract from your playing. The effects are decent , I use the delay, reverb most. A very satisfactory practice amp,but if you want bells and whistles , spend the extra for the reg GDEC. :)
