I recently wrote to Fender inquiring about the Fender G-DEC amplifiers. Unfortunately as you can see by their response I quoted below, they really have been discontinued.

Hi Anthony,

Thank you for your email. The G-Dec models were indeed discontinued last year. The closest replacement would be our Mustang series of amplifiers; however these do not have built in backing tracks.

Best Regards,

It certainly seemed that way, at least now it's good to have confirmation.

A feeling of closure, I guess? :? (Hey, we get attached to our gear! :) )

Only time will tell if Fender is ever planning to bring back another amp with backing tracks...

Sad but true... maybe they will become valuable collector's items!

I think if they would have put a 12" speaker in there instead of a 10 it might have been more appealing as a really versatle unit. As is though I use mine at our gigs as a duo. I keep it in good shape by babying it too. You never know.

I'm sad that it has been discontinued, but on the positive side, I've got one and it's working well. Most fun I've ever had with an amplifier and the backing tracks plus SD card features make it a standout.
Like Frank, I'm treating mine with care (no heavy metal presets or atonal stuff, thank you very much  ).
A question for Frank: do you run your GDec o/p through your pa when you perform?
sorry for the diversion.......

Yep, it's a shame. Maybe they're working on the next generation. Who knows?

The only other amp that contains backing tracks, as far as I know, is the Line 6 Spyder Jam. It's similar to the G-DEC, but it does have a 12" Celestion speaker (plus a 2" tweeter), an XLR input, 75 watts of power and up to 24 minutes of CD level quality of recording time. Plus, of course, a bushel basket full of presets and song tracks.

It also carries a (street) price tag of $399.

When I heard the G-DEC 3 THIRTYs were being discontinued I bought a second one at a closeout price of $99.00 and I'm leaving it in the box in case my original takes a dump.

I built a new speaker cabinet for it and am running an NOS JBL D-130F 15" speaker with mine along with a 10" Eminence Ragin' Cajun and the stock Fender tweeter and it sounds awesome.

I removed all of the original backing tracks and now have 100 complete songs downloaded with the amp type and effects I like for each song and I play a solo gig with it at a club like a piano at a piano bar and it really does the trick. I just sit on a stool playing music out of what looks like an old tweed amp with my orange Gretsch with a full band backup and no egos to deal with. You make a lot more cash as a solo act.

It is the standard black version but I don't want to sell it. I advise you check eBay from time to time as I am looking for a third one but do not want to pay an arm and a leg for it.

G Dec was and is a great concept that was (mostly) well executed by Fender. The market just didn't respond.

My blues model is working well and I intend to keep it forever.

Well, seeing as they're now discontinued I believe they will command higher 2nd hand prices in time as collectors.
I still keep mine as there really is nothing else out there like it for versatility! Plugged into a PA using good backing tracks the amp can sound really impressive in one man bands or duo acts!

I recently had a party using the G dec 3 and an auxiliary 12" 300w PA speaker and rocked the house for sure!

but If demand is not there then Fender would know that and discontinue the amp. shame, but in time makes them priceless If well looked after! :)

Been a while since I was back here.. I use my G-dec plugged into the pa system (mono) sounds great and the amp itself makes for a good monitor. Guess I'm lucky in the fact I have never had any major issues with my amp. It's been a real trooper in the long run. Not sure what I would do if it ever gave out.
