I downloaded a whole bunch of presets from the FUSE Library to my computer. Now I am downloading the presets from my computer to my SD card in my G-Dec.

My question: Is there any way to download all the files in my Media Library at once to the SD card? Right now I am manually downloading one preset at a time and each time it takes about 30 seconds... at this rate it will take me a week to get them all on my card!

Help please! And thanks in advance!

Hi Tiger J and welcome!
There are 2 ways to bulk import presets saved on your computer to a SD card.
If your computer has a SD card reader, then one way (and my favourite) is to put the SD card into the SD card slot and transfer the files from your pc HD to the Preset folder on your SD card. As you probably know, the SD card has to be formatted properly first.
Another way is to use the Utilities menu on the G Dec and select USB drive. The formatted SD card must be in the G Dec. Both the G Dec HD and the SD card will show in windows explorer and you can then copy presets from the pc to the SD card. Remember to exit from the SD card and G Dec via the computer before exiting the USB function via the G Dec.
Once the presets are on the SD card, you have to assign them to a slot if you want them to be permanently available as preset xx for example.
cheers,
Alex

Thanks Alexei... any idea where/what folder the FUSE presets are stored to on the hard drive? They all appear in the Media Library when I launch FUSE but I cannot find the place on my HDD where they are stored to.

They should be in Documents\Fender\Fuse\AmpData for the presets currently in your amp, slots 00 through 99 (AMP button in Fuse Media Library). Downloaded presets contains all the presets that you've downloaded and saved over the years - these can be transferred to the Presets folder which contains all the presets that you see in fuse Media Library using the COMPUTER button.
cheers...

I have downloaded the presets to my SD card. They all show up on the SD card on my FUSE software. But when I access the SD card in my G-DEC I see the name of the preset and "invalid file" underneath... what is wrong???

Good question...it's been so long since I've downloaded presets - I just make up my own nowadays.
I checked on my SD card and noticed that all the presets in my presets folder do not have the GD_ prefix. It looks as if I've removed it since the downloaded presets in the Documents\Fender\Fuse\downloaded presets folder all have the GD_ prefix (GD_60's pop.fuse for example).
Back up your downloaded presets on the SD card and then try changing them (start with only one of them!) and see if they show up and are playable.
Alan Willey from Fender is the expert and can help if my advice is wonky.
cheers,
Alex

Alex's suggestion may work, but I honestly don't believe it has any bearing on being valid or not. (As he mentioned, he makes up his own, and they don't start with the GD_ prefix. Furthermore, he has been kind enough to email me a few of his handcrafted presets, and I can vouch they work great!)

I will shoot you a pm, Tiger, and if you'd like, you can email me the invalid preset. I'd be happy to take a look at it to see if it works on my end.

I also agree with Alex that Fender TSL are the experts and undoubtably can answer this far better than I can.

Edit: PM sent

Thanks ARX... I will give Fender a call if the tech guy doesn't respond to this post. I downloaded a whole bunch of presets (in fact, almost all except the "country" presets) from the FUSE Community. They do all have the GD_ prefix.

When the amp is plugged into FUSE the presets show up on the Media Library as being on my SD card. When I access the SD card on the G-DEC when not plugged into FUSE, the amp recognizes the presets by name but underneath says "Invalid File."

ARX I would send to you to take a look at... but we are talking a LOT of presets here! And they are all just the ones on the Fender Community already... many are Fender's own presets from the Metal and Blues edition G-Decs.

Yes, Alex is right. Sorry, Tiger, I didn't mean to be unclear! Feel free to send me a couple.

Didn't want you sorting through zillions of presets, Jeff :)

Hi Tiger J,

I believe this may be related to a problem I (and a few others) encountered a while back. See this post:
viewtopic.php?f=25&t=41352

In a nutshell, the Fuse desktop application creates the preset in a format that is incompatible with the G-DEC 3's firmware (the software running inside the amp). I'm not sure why the problem only seems to exist when saving the preset in Fuse, copying to an SD card, and then physically moving the SD card from a computer to the G-DEC.

The last post in the above link was last May from Fender saying they were working on a fix. It is possible that it was fixed in the most recent version of Fuse. But to be honest, I simply gave up trying out of frustration.

Good luck!

Hi BlueCajun,

Thanks for keeping this one alive. And our apologies for not following up sooner. Did you have a chance to send us one of the Presets that you were working with at the time? If not, would you mind emailing us one of the Presets you have had an issue with so that we can take a look at it now? in general, in the past, it has been more of a case of finding issues with Presets when they were not brought into Fender® FUSE™ before being sent to the amp. But please let us know. Thanks very much.
