I'm running my G-DEC along with another amp, and when I select any setting on the G-DEC that has any hint of overdrive/distortion, I get terrible squealing/feedback immediately. It doesn't happen with clean settings.

My set-up is: Guitar - pedal board (which splits the signal with a Boss LS-2 Line Selector), - G-DEC 3 Thirty and Peavey Windsor Studio.

Here's the pedal board:

The Boss LS-2 is in the top left. I have one cable running to the G-DEC, and one to the Peavey amp. with any "dirty" setting on the G-DEC, it squeals something fierce. If I unplug the cable to the other amp, there's no squeal.

Can anyone help me make this problem go away?

Picture is kind of fuzzy. But from what i can tell, the out put from that blue pedal should be plugged into the input side. and then the g-dec should be plugged into the output side of the LS-2 pedal. And try plugging the Peavey effects out from your amp into the return on the LS-2 and then the send would go to the return on your Peavey amp. That bottom jack on the LS-2 looks like a pass thru. I always just had a plain A-B switch going to each amp.

You may be on to something there Banditt. I'll try switching the input on the LS-2 when I get home. As far as the output from the LS-2, I have one cable running to the G-DEC, and one running to the Peavey (one is a 90 degree angle type cable, hard to see in the pic). I did, for a little while, run the "line out" of the G-dec into the effects return of the Peavey, which worked ok, but that bypasses the pre-amp of the Peavey, cutting out the 2x 12AX7's. I like the tube sound! I was planning on picking up an A-B-Y switch, but then I found the LS-2 on Craigslist for $15 and thought I'd give it a try.

Sorry, don't mean to sidetrack your thread, but why a pedalboard for the G-Dec? My guess would be you prefer the tones coming out of those versus what's in the G-Dec. Which leads me to my second question: Which modeled amp do you like to run the pedals into?

Again, sorry for (sidejacking?) your thread.

I always get a little confused when running multiple amps  Hope you get that figured out Powertrip. Got to be frustrating. I am on the fence with some of the effects that come with the G-DEC. Some of the distortions are a little ragged for lack of a better word. Guess it depends on the guitar. The other effects are nice though. Just bought a 2012 Strat with some Fat 50 pick ups. Also a ME70 Boss pedal. I'll try it out later with the G-DEC and see what I come up with.

No problem! I've been a "pedal guy" for many years, long before the G-DEC came out. I just recently got the 4 button footswitch for the G-DEC(which is handy as hell!), but I'll never be able to stray from my pedal board. Some of the sounds from the G-DEC are a little iffy, so I usually set it at a 60's clean setting, or a '59 bassman setting, and adjust as necessary with my pedals. I bought the G-DEC moreso for the ability to play backing tracks, not as much for the modeling capabilities.

Yeah, I know what you mean about some of the distortions. I have the regular version of the G-DEC 3 Thirty, and many of the distortions were WAY too heavy for me. I switched the settings to the Blues Edition, and I like the settings a lot more. But I still use my pedals more than any other settings.

And yes, I agree, it does depend on the guitar. My Les Paul may sound better in one particular setting than my strat, or vice versa.

Good points, but I thought that one of the main reasons for buying a modelling amp was, well, modelling 8)
I too found that many of the distortion presets originally supplied were unusable, so I modded them until I got what I wanted....though with that said, I still have trouble with the fuzz stomp box....
