i had a g-dec 30 for 2 weeks and some of the features (play/stop button, quick access button, exit/utility button, etc) quit working. I shipped it back to the supplier and I am getting a new one. i did have my laptop and the g-dec connected to 2 seperate power supplys with the 15 foot usb cable connected in between the g-dec and the laptop. so should i have both the g-dec (with the 15 foot usb cable connected to both) and laptop connected to the same power supply (wall outlet) or does it matter. I am just trying to figure out why the g-dec malfunctioned. any advice would help, thanks

Hi and welcome to the forum!
I'm sure that Fender TSL will correct me if I'm wrong, but unless the outlet which the GDec was connected to is/was faulty (voltage spikes) it doesn't matter whether the laptop and amp are connected to the same or different outlets.
My GDec and laptop are connected to different outlets, albeit the same fused circuit; I have about 15 feet of USB cables running between amp and computer and I've been problem free for a couple of years. I suspect that others have the same experience, based on the lack of posts on the topic.
You probably had the misfortune of buying a faulty amp....this happens from time to time, unfortunately.
cheers,
Alex
