I have had my G-Dec 30 since June. I have been messing with it but I am not finding what I want on it. Maybe it isn't capable or I am just too dumb to figure it out!
I am wanting a simple 4-4 drum beat to play along with. I found the 4-4 metronome setting but can't figure out how to change the tempo on it.
I am just an old beginner, nowhere near ready to try playing along with actual songs but my teacher wants me working with some form of rhythm background. Ideally, I'd like to hear kick on 1st and 3rd beat, high hat on 2nd and snare on 4th. I need to be able the vary the tempo as well.

Can it be done and how??
Thanks, Matt

Welcome to the forums! You're neither too old (Heck, I just started five years ago, at age 50!) and I'm sure your brainpower is fine. ;)

To change the tempo, you set it by using the TAP button. (On your amp, it's marked TAP/Hold for Tuner)

To set the tempo of MIDI tracks using TAP:

1. Select a preset with a MIDI band track, or load a MIDI band track.

2. Tap the Band soft key. You should see MIDI highlighted (if you see MP3/WAV, just turn the big knob one click to see MIDI)

3. Once you see MIDI, tap the far right soft key (above it will say File). A MIDI file will be highlighted. If you want a different MIDI file, turn the big knob.

4. After you have the MIDI file you want highlighted, tap the far right soft key twice. It will change the label above it from Repeat to Tempo, and then Tempo will be displayed in the middle, along with the number of beats (e.g., 120 Original Tempo)

5. Now, you can change Tempo either by:
a. Pressing the TAP button repeatedly (twice minimum) in sync with the desired tempo for the band track. The tempo will instantly update. Keep tapping if you don't quite get it.
Note: If you press the TAP button only one time, the tempo setting of the MIDI band track will not be affected.

b. Turning the big knob will also change the Tempo. So if you get close, but not quite right, just dial it in with the big knob. I think it bottoms out at 30 bpm.

6. Now, if you want, you can hit Exit, and the new tempo will stick, BUT the red Save light will still be lit, indicating the changes haven't been permanently applied. (Meaning, if you turn the knob to a new preset, you'll lose your changes)

7. So, save (or don't, your choice) your preset slot when you're done.

Once you've done it a couple of times, you can make a change in about 10 seconds.

Good luck, hope this helps! :)
