I was basement jamming with some folks last weekend, sounding pretty good when it went silent in the middle of a song. I don't think I had it cranked up past 5 the whole time.
Fortunately, I had brought a backup amp because this was the first time bringing the DEC out for a jam, so the show went on. Later I got it back home and plugged in, and it was working for a minute before it started crackling and died. I didn't check the headphone or line outputs, but that would have been pointless anyway. I've had it four months and it's been a blast. I believe it has helped improve my guitar playing immensely.
Dropped it off at the local authorized service center yesterday, and I miss it already. :(

I can honestly say this is the first time I've had to send a new Fender product back for a malfunction. I've had the G-DEC15, G-DEC-30, and I still have my B-DEC 30. Never had a problem with those.

Anyway, I'm sure Fender's warranty will put things right and I'm not complaining. I'm just wondering if it's happened to anyone else, and what was the issue?
Cheers!
SC

Looks like the connection from the speaker to the PCB had a short, and the repair center resoldered it. It's working fine now, and I'm a happy jammer. 8)

I know this thread is a little stale, however I thought I might add my experience with a similar issue.

I bought a G-DEC 30 new last August. I set it up to play and it immediately had the same behavior you described. I was very disappointed to say the least. I can't stop thinking when I encounter a problem though, I eventually concluded it might be a loose cable connecting the speaker.

Sure enough after opening it, I saw the speaker wire was barely connected to the speaker. It had a flat type head that I was able to push onto the speaker lead. Once I did that it sounded perfectly.

But even still, seems like there should be better quality control. Most people wouldn't have the inclination to open it up and instead would end up returning it. Which is a pity because I think it is a great amp.

That being said, I do enjoy the G-DEC. And since I've bought other Fender products as well.
