Hi all. looking to use G_DEC 3 to line into a Tascam DP-008 Porta studio to record tracks. It works lining out from right stero ouput jack located on back of G Dec3 using a guitar cable to the input A for the tascam mixer. I'm wondering if I would get a cleaner signal using either the headphone on G DEC 3 jack or left stero channel into the Tascam input A any ideas thx john

Hi garces1,

Thanks for your inquiry, can you tell me if the input on your Tascam Porta Studio is Mono or Stereo. Do you wish to monitor your signal though your amp or have it muted. Once we get some clarification regarding these things, we will be able to assist you better.

Cheers,

Hey thx for the reply, I'm flexible with either using headphones via the tascam for monitoring the signal or thru the amp Speaker, tascam headphones may be a truer reflection of the signal tracking on the tascam. Or simply use the tascam headphones and let the speaker on g dec be active but pointed away from me
I'm using a standard guitar cord from the g dec to the input channel A or B on the tascam recorder so I'm thinking that would be a mono signal , yes ? I believe the input on the tascam a and b channels are mono but I could check that if needed, although there is a provided two wire channel adapter that connect to a single cable for input to tascam. Still on a large learning curve with the tascam, life keeps getting in the way of playing :(

Thx a ton
John

Hi garces1,

Thanks for providing us with that information. Both line and headphone outputs should sound the same. If you choose to record using the headphone output, it will mute the output from the speaker so there would be no need to "angle the amplifier" away from you. I would recommend you try the different outputs to see which one you like better. If you are experiencing some noise while recording, you might want to try switching out your cables to see if that makes a difference. Please let us know if we can assist you further.

Cheers,
