I originally bought Hal Lenards Hard rock SD card for GDEC 3, I want to make my own card like those, where you can import them and the preset will play the backing track assigned to that preset on the card, the preset and backing tracks are all on the card.

I tried to make my own card however cannot assign a backing track..

I do not want to assign it to a preset position on the amp, you don't have to on the hal lenard cards you can just play them and they work by import without saving..how do i make my own card where the backing track will play along with the preset?

Hi michaelawalker,

So, if you want to create some Presets and assign Band Tracks with all content on the SD card, the easiest way is to get the Presets and Band Tracks copied to the card and then import the Presets to the locations you would like on your amp and using the Band soft key (under the display on your amp), add the Band Tracks that you want to the Presets you have imported to the amp. Once you have completed these steps, you should have your Presets loaded to the amp from the SD card and be able to use the Band Tracks that are assigned to those specific Presets but are stored on the SD card.

Please let us know if we can assist further.

Good question....
If it were me, I'd make a copy of the Hal Leonard card and see if it worked like the original.
If it did, I'd try replacing one of the presets and band track for a preset / band track of your choice and see if that works. If it does, the world is your oyster, so to speak.
I believe that you mentioned in another post that there was an extra file associated with each of the preset&band track combos on the Hal Leonard (HL) card...best to leave this be.
hth...

Hi Guys,

So, for copyright reasons, the Hal Leonard content on their cards is unique and should not be copied. With that said, all you need to do is to place your own Preset files and Band Tracks on your SD card in their respective folders (Presets/Presets & Band Tracks/Audio). Then import and setup your Band Track associations on your amp and you should be good to go.

Please let us know if we can assist further.

According to copyright law are are allowed to make a copy for backup purposes if we originally own the card Alan..

Hi Alan,
I would never condone contravention of copyright law...I did think tho' that you could make a backup copy as insurance. However, what I was trying to suggest is using the HL as a template to try to achieve what he wants to achieve.....basically changing most of its content; however, if what I'm suggesting is illegal, then it should not be done and I apologize unreservedly.
The best way for michaelawalker to achieve his ends would be either to contact the Hal Leonard organization or, learn some computer programming.
Your suggestions as to combining presets and Band Tracks are, as always, excellent 8) This is how I and many others do it and it works just fine, thank you very much!
best,
Alex

The following steps are just one possible process to create presets with backing tracks on the Amp SD Card. If comfortable with XML editing, all can be done without the need to use Fuse, and if you are comfortable managing files between PC hard drive and removable SD card media, shortcuts can be taken to this process.

I have written the process for The Doors Riders on the Storm so that all file names can be seen and help explain why certain edits were made and used.

I have tested this using:
- G-Dec 3 firmware version 1.04
- Fuse version 2.7.0
- Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium

Before you start, format the SD card as shown in the video, (from the G-Dec front panel), in the following article. This ensures all the correct folders are created on the SD card.

Formatting SD cardsfor use with theFender
http://www.fender.com/en-CA/support/articles/formatting-sd-cards-for-use-with-the-fender-g-dec-3/

Step-by-Step How to create custom Presets on G-Dec SD Cards

Step 1 - Download preset.
a) Go to Fender FUSE G-DEC 3 Presets https://fuse.fender.com/gdec3/presets and login.
b) search for and down load preset to "My Documents\Fender\FUSE\Presets\gdec3riders-on-the-storm.fuse".
c) you need to rename the preset file to be "GD_<Info name>.fuse" as follows:
right click on downloaded preset file and select "Edit"
Edit > Find "Info name"
cut the text following within the double quotes "Riders on the Storm"
File > Exit
right click on downloaded preset file and select "Rename" and rename to "GD_Riders on the Storm.fuse" and press Enter key

Note: If you do not rename the preset file as above, FUSE will rename it in step 8 below. This will leave a non-existant preset on the PC preset list, exiting and restarting FUSE was the only way I could remove it.

Step 2 - Download backing track.
a) Go to Free Guitar Backing Tracks @ GuitarBackingTrack.com http://www.guitarbackingtrack.com/.
b) click on "D".
c) select link "Doors, The".
d) select link "Riders On The Storm".
e) select link "Download this backing track as MP3".
f) save as "My Documents\Fender\FUSE\Audio\WaveMP3\RidersOnTheStormBT.mp3".
g) repeat steps d through f for "Riders On The Storm (2)" save as "My Documents\Fender\FUSE\Audio\WaveMP3\RidersOnTheStormAT.mp3".

Note: The G-Dec 3 display will only show the first 21 characters of backing track file names, so I use camel notation, (no spaces, dashed or underscores), and append "BT" for backing track and "AT" to indicate all tracks. You are in no way obligated to use this naming convention.

Step 3 - Power up G-Dec 3.
a) Insert formatted SD Card into G-Dec 3
b) Connect G-Dec 3 to PC using USB cable
c) Power on G-Dec 3

Step 4 - Start FUSE

Step 5 - copy backing tracks to Amp SD card.
a) click "MEDIA LIBRARY" button
b) click "Computer" button
c) right click on band track "RidersOnTheStormAT" and select "Save To Amp SD Card"
d) right click on band track "RidersOnTheStormBT" and select "Save To Amp SD Card"
e) click "PRESET EDITOR" button

Step 6 - Load preset.
a) select computer presets, (left drop down on the "PRESET CONTROL PANEL".
b) select "Riders on the Storm"

Step 7 - Add backing track to preset.
a) click "BAND" button
b) select MP3/Wave
c) select "Amp - RidersOnTheStormBT.mp3"
d) click "OK" button

Step 8 - Save preset.
a) click "SAVE" button under "PRESET CONTROL PANEL".

Step 9 - copy preset to SD card.
a) click "MEDIA LIBRARY" button
b) click "Computer" button
c) right click on preset "Riders on the Storm" and select "Save Preset To SD Card"

Congrats, you are finished.

Note: Fuse does not allow the editing of presets stored on the Amp SD Card. To make changes, edit the copy on the PC by starting at step 6 and finishing at step 9, omit any intermediate steps not required.

To access the new preset with backing track:
1. Using Fuse.
a) select computer presets
b) select "Riders on the Storm"
c) click "START" button

2. From G-Dec 3 front panel.
a) press and hold "Exit" key for 2 seconds
b) press left soft key 7 times until "Turn knob to import" is displayed.
c) turn knob to select "GD_Riders on the Storm"
d) press "START/STOP"

Note: These two methods are using different preset files, the former is located on the PC, the latter on the Amp SD Card. If these are not the same, results of the two methods will also be different. (The backing tracks are the same ones located on the Amp SD Card).

To play a backing track:
1. Using Fuse.
a) click "MEDIA LIBRARY" button
b) click "SD Card" button
c) right click on band track "RidersOnTheStormAT" and select "Preview"
d) to stop right click on band track "RidersOnTheStormAT" and select "Stop"

2. From G-Dec 3 front panel.
a) press "QUICK ACCESS" key until "SD - MP3" is displayed
b) turn knob to select "RidersOnTheStormAT.mp3"
c) press "START/STOP"

Hope this helps ....
