I had a problem with the 1/8" headphone jack on my G-DEC 3-30 twice before and it was replaced both times. So to avoid any future problems with headphones I bought 2 Fender Frontman amps and plugged them into the left and right channels in the back of the unit and then when I want to use headphones I use one of the 1/4 inch jacks on one of the Frontman amps. I now NEVER ever use the 1/8" jack on the G-DEC.
However last week the third G-DEC went back to the shop because it won't start until the front panel becomes hot...which takes 40 minutes.
As an engineering technician my analysis is that the delayed starting issues may be caused by repeated expansion and contraction of wires which eventually need to expand with the heat to make a connection. A vent panel and/or cooling fan built into the unit may solve the problem.
But now I sit without my recording capability and wait for some word from someone as to when I will get my amplifier back...again.

I took the G-DEC 3-30 into Music Depot at 137 Gore St., Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, (705-253-2926) on Tuesday, July 10th, where I purchased it. It's been one week today and all that I'm getting from Scott is, "Hey dude, it doesn't happen very fast. I sent all the stuff in to Fender."

I also can't get Fender Fuse updates to work on my computer and have to continually load the original disc to use the program with all of its bugs. I've tried going through all the steps outlined under the Fender Fuse articles...so needless to say I'm just about 'FED UP' with it all.

When I spoke with the owner, Scott, at Music Depot this morning I told him that I would be in contact with Fender about the problem I was having with the G-DEC. Well I just came back from his store and he told me that he cancelled the request to Fender for repairs or replacement of my amp and said that he didn't want my business and gave me back my G-DEC. He didn't like the idea that someone might contact Fender directly about a problem they're having, so what do I do with the G-DEC now?

For one thing...I'll never enter Music Depot again. There is another Fender dealer here in town where I purchased my Frontman amps. So from now on it looks like I'll be dealing with Northland Music for Fender products.

Guess I am lucky. Must be a bad batch or something. Had mine for about a year now and use it on most weekends at my 2 piece gigs. I take it home plug in the headphones for hours and practice. (girlfriend gets annoyed when I play something over and over to learn) Really have worked this thing over and have had zero problems. Even the Fender Fuse has been easy to work with. Not trying to be a smart a** just saying it is frustrating to have the problems you are having. I hope it works out for you. I wouldn't go back to that music store either. In fact I would write an email telling Fender what happened to you at a Fender store.

Hi Nynavic,

I am sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with the Music Depot. Please send along an email with the text from this message and your Forum name, real name and contact information as well as your amp serial number, and I will be happy to assist. Thanks very much.

Hi Alan,
Thanks for your response. I sent you an email this morning with all the information that you requested.
I was on the phone yesterday with Mike Roberts in Consumer Relations and he said that he'd send me an email with all the shipping information so that I could send the amp directly to Fender. But I still haven't gotten an email from him with that info.
