Mojavemike...
Welcome.
If your amp is a GDec3, then once you're in memory lock (in the utilities section, of course), simply turn the grey wheel until on becomes off. Then push exit to return to the default or normal screen.
If your amp isn't a GDec, I haven't a clue, but I might if I had the manual!
Manuals can be useful 8) and are available in the support section of this website.
Cheers,
Alex

Thank you...I don't know why Fender doesn't mention these few words when I checked out "Memory Lock".

I know what you mean. The information is actually there in the advanced GDec manual, but it's in 2 separate parts on 2 different pages...don't want things to be too easy
The manual was presumably written by someone(s) who knew the system, but it wasn't properly proofed. A common occurrence with manuals, sadly in my experience.
On p.10 as you've noted, memory lock is mentioned under Utility Menus, but the extra piece of info that we need to pull it all together is on p.2, right hand side, under navigation when talking about the encoder knob.
Not the best way to impart knowledge, methinks.
cheers...A.

This was my first problem with my G-DEC3 Thirty. I've since wondered why Fender doesn't just change the default to "unlocked". I guess they have to protect the amps being demoed.

Hi bclarke...
I've been a fan of your posts for a while now...you have good info and you share it with the Fender community...kudos!
The manual is frustrating at times for sure, but with that said, there is a lot of great information on this website (forums, support) which can be found by rooting about using the search functions.
You sometimes have to be creative (persistent? relentless??) in the searching, but there are no guarantees in life that things will be easy.
I also really, really like my GDec-3 30. It has made guitar playing fun again...so versatile and it sounds so good through my monitor speakers. It's also very good for recording via the line outs (stereo!!!)
Best,
Alex

Hi Guys,

The main reason we have the amps set up this way is to prevent unintentional deletion of data by users who may not realize that they are overwriting Preset data. But with that said, I can see the logic for the reverse here, where users can be confused by the 'Mem Lock' being on by default. I will pass your feedback along here at HQ.Thanks.
