I was jamming and wanted to record the G-DEC 3 via USB. First thing, I open up the System Preferences>Sound. I choose DEC audio for input. Looking at the input level, the guitar sound is coming into the computer and comes out fine from the DEC speaker. However, the band track won't play when I press the button on the DEC, and no band track is coming through the input, just the guitar sound. I don't have any audio recording programs open on the Mac, and the UTIL menu sound output choices on the DEC are only for Line Out. Any ideas? I hope I've explained it clearly enough. Thanks!
Mac OS 10.7.4, 2.66 GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo

Hi Strat Cat,

I am happy to assist. The Band Tracks don't get routed to the USB output. So, the behavior you are seeing is expected. Keep in mind that the Band Tracks are wav files and can be copied to your Mac and used to record some tracks on Garage band with. You can do this by mounting the amp on your Mac in USB Drive mode and getting the Band Tracks from the G-DEC drive on the amp once it mounts on your desktop. Then add them to your iTunes library and then you should be able to access them in Garage Band. Please check this out and let me know if I can asist further.

Thanks Alan, makes sense.
One more question, though. When I choose the DEC audio input, why doesn't the band track play from the G-DEC speaker, while the guitar sound does?
Does configuring the audio input on the computer override the sound output to the G-DEC speaker, and is it intentional?
Anyway, it looks like I'll have to use the Line Out option to get what I'm going for.

Hi Strat Cat,

So, regarding the Band Track output from the amp's speaker, go to the Utility menu (press and hold Exit button for 2 seconds) and navigate to the Speaker settings window. Be sure that all is selected.

Also, be sure to check out the USB Drive mode on the amp for getting some of the wav files (Band Tracks) from the amp and bringing them into iTunes, etc.

Cheers,
