I'd like to pick a band, fire it up, and record a phrase over it including it in the phrase (without waiting for it to loop). Sounds easy enough and I've done this a few times, but getting all this to happen *smoothly* is a pain. Am I missing any tricks? The only way I see to do this is to start the band track, which of course has no countdown meaning it starts instantly, then punch record, whether on the foot pedal or keypad, THEN start playing all in the count of wuh... So... any BETTER ways to do this??

My other option is a Jamman Solo, but it sounds like garbage through the presets. I have one, though, if there's an option I'm missing here as well.

Unfortunately no. There's no count in on the G-Dec 3's.
