This takes about an hour and isn't for everyone. MOST of you won't want
to "waste the time". For the remaining 2 of you, this WILL make your amp
10 times easier to access and it'll be organized. This procedure is
written for Windows so if you're a Mac user, you'll have to substitute
the keyboard functions. Yes, it takes a bunch of time. Yes, most of you
think I wasted a bunch of time. Bet my amp is WAAAYY esier to navigate
than yours! If I want tweed amps, I roll the knob to the T's then select
clean, dirty, whatever. In the mood for a Blackface but not sure whether
you want clean, dirty, XXX, reverb, whatever? Roll the knob to the B's
and they're all right there! Fender, you dropped the ball in cramming all
the presets in here in a huge lump of %^&*.

What I did... From the amp loaded with your favs, be it country, blues, metal, original, Export all presets to the SD card. Move the
card to the computer or access it from the USB function. Change the name
of this folder to something different, like presets.2 or whatever but
make sure you have a "presets" file on the card later to not confuse the
amp. Interesting enough, these will be stored in alphabetical order under
regular windows settings so things are looking more organized already!
Notice the Brits are all together? That's where we're going with ALL of
these! Anyway, depending on your computer system, it may show you the
number of files at the bottom of the window, or you may have to select
all of them, or hell, you might have to count them. This isn't critical
to know, but it can help you in making your selections. In my case, it
was 98. Where's the other 2? I don't know. Maybe 2 were dupes? Maybe my amp is showing another lemony trait? Doesn't bother me in this case. Next up, I
have a Hal Leonard book with 10 great presets. Those will go in here
somewhere, so 10 of the originals will be leaving. Delete the ones you
don't want/need, copy and paste the ones you want, and voila,
alphabetical order again! If you like some in particular, just rename the
file from preset.fuse to 01preset.fuse. Why bother? You'll see in a
minute.

Now for convenience for what's to come next, go to the Fuse directory on
your computer and change the name of the presets folder to presets.tmp or
whatever. "MOVE" the presets.2 folder (or whatever you named it) into the
fender/fuse/ directory and rename it back to "Presets". Next, it's time
to rebuild your amp to YOUR tastes. First, back it up with fuse. That's
up to you to figure out as we don't have all day to do this stuff... Once
backed up, let's start rebuilding it. No backup? Stop now and go read a
fishing mag or something. You need a place to come back to in case I'm
not clear enough below, otherwise, don't do it!

* Connected to Fuse, roll the knob to preset 00. In Fuse, select "open"
on the left top menu. Locate the presets folder in fender/fuse if it
doesn't show up automatically. Select the first preset which is likely
something you put a "01" or something in front of the name. Click on the
preset once, wait a second, then click a second time. HUH? Quiet and pay
attention! On the second click, the file name is highlighted. Control C
copies the file name for reasons you'll understand in a second. Now,
select "open" 2 times to "unhighlight" it and transfer it. Here's the
steps to smooth things over, in order: Click "save" on Fuse. It'll ask
you to name it. Control V pastes the file name you just copied - I'm lazy, this saves typing. Edit it however you want in this box as it's your LAST chance to change how it's
displayed in the amp. Click OK, and the red save button on the amp is
lit. Press it twice to save it and overwrite what's on 00. Wait for
things to sync, then start again at * above with the knob rolled to 01,
pick the next file, and continue on until reaching the end. Do another
backup and you'll have it the way YOU wanted it with an option to go back
and forth between backups at any time! If done as above, all the presets will still by linked to their bandtracks, and all will be good. The extra tracks will still link to THEIR bandtracks, but unless edited, you will need the SD card installed in the amp related to them so they can find their tracks.

In the end, your preset folder will be full of the presets you just used
plus all of those same presets with GD_ in front of the filename. Keep'em
(GD_), toss'em, no big deal, but the ones with GD in front of the name
have a line changed inside of them thanks to some lax in programming
insde the amp that limits your ability to use them outside of Fuse.
Again, keeping all is no big deal - just know which is which - your originals were what GDEC spit out, the GD_ files are what Fuse created and GDEC has some issues using these without Fuse's help.

If you don't appreciate this, fine, button your lip and offer your own
advice. If you DO appreciate it, nice! Send a large donation to the charity of your choice
and pass on something someone can use!
