My G-Dec 3 30 isn't reading a Hal Leonard songbook SD card.

I insert the card, press and hold the exit button for three seconds, press the soft key underneath the right arrow on the screen to advance the menu, until I get to the Import screen, and it says: "No SD card found."

It's supposed to say "turn knob to import."

The card is in the slot all the way.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks.

When I go to the 'free space' window, it says, 'SD -- needs formatted.' Does that mean the card isn't formatted and doesnt' work?

Or is this an amp problem?

I loaded the card onto my PC. The band tracks play fine and the presets are there in the presets folder.

So the card is fine, right?

And the amp is bad?

It would be a good idea to see if the amp can read other cards before blaming it. Otherwise, you're doing it right. With the card in your pc, can you transfer a preset with fuse to the amp? If so, pick on the amp, if not, pick on the card.

Mine worked right off the bat. But I also used a card reader and plugged it right into the computer and backed it up in case I lost the sd card (which I did misplace :( already. ) Then you can plug your amp into the computer and use the FUSE program to add it to your amp. Makes it a lot more easier than using the amp itself. Just my thoughts.

I know another guy on here is using the HL Country SD card in his, with no problems. I don't think he mentioned needing to use a card reader or the fuse software...?

How do you use a card reader on Fuse?

And why would I need to? My PC has already read the card successfully.

I don't think the problem is the card. I think it's the amp.

Thanks for the replies so far. They're appreciated.

Weird. Maybe HL uses several manufacturers to source it's SD cards? Because their on some SD card brands that don't work well in the GDEC (it's on Fender's site).

ruger, I'm thinking about returning the Hendrix songbook and either A) getting another one and hoping the card magically works with the amp or B) getting a *different* songbook (say, Clapton) and seeing if that works.

Is there any way to "force" or "help" the amp to see an SD card?

By the way, this is the first SD card I've used on this amp.

Thanks again for the thoughts.

I think someone else on here bought a HL thing, and the SD card didn't work... or maybe it worked, but there was nothing on it. HL sent him a new one I think. So it wouldn't surprise me if it's a brand that doesn't get along well with the GDEC.

Seriously, before I returned it, I'd call HL and ask them what's up. But idk about "forcing" the amp to see the card... doubt it. Loren from Fender might be able to help with that, but he won't even see this thread until sometime tomorrow probably.

I know I'd be upset. If HL wants to make SD cards for Fender products, they better make sure the manufacturers they use are COMPATIBLE with the Fender product (which is what I am still betting is going on here.)

Like I said, my laptop read the card just fine. I'm wondering if the amp's card slot is malfunctioning.

But I don't know that either, because this if the first SD card I've tried with the amp.

It would be great if this were easily correctable user error. But I doubt it.

Whether or not your laptop can read it is irrelevant... go onto the GDEC website, in the FAQ section... there are certain BRANDS of SD that don't work in the GDEC.

Hi InkStained,

If your amp is able to read and access a second SD card, please send an email to me at the address below with your Forum name, real name, phone number and a mailing address, and I will assist you in getting a replacement Ha lLeonardSD card. Thanks.

Alan, the info you requested is on the way.

Thanks again for your help.

Basically: the issue is the Hal Leonard card, NOT the amp.

Tom
