OK, my patience has run out. My issue installing software has already been stated, but since I'd gotten it setup to what I wanted (Blues with a mix of personal tracks and a few downloaded presets), wasn't too worried. Since then, once when I was saving a phrase, it dropped random bands. I fixed that. Yesterday, I saved a phrase to the HD, it's nowhere to be found. Just now after playing around an hour, I went to save a phrase and it went on, and on, and on, saving... I finally killed the power after 5 minutes only to fire it up and see "format complete". Yep, ALL my work washed out. I'm done with it. My music store has been cut off from Fender so I'm on my own here. What can I do to recover my $$?? I'm restoring it, but as per another of my posts, the only tracks saved are those attached to presets! AND, No phrases are backed up so I'm limited to only having what I've grabbed to the SD from time to time, which is very limited! You have no idea my frustration level so give me some kind of good news!

After restoring, here's some specs close to what it was when it crashed:
Blues edition 1.04
HD freespace now 65.27 megs, WAS around 55
no SD was installed

phrases were still high quality although I prefer low, I just hadn't set it yet
I've only recorded 5 phrases total, none were on the amp at the time due to previous issue

either I'm losing it or presets seemed to reset to factory at random overnight - I'm still figuring things out so that may have been me.

The amp was connected to the computer running win 7 and Fuse but no changes were being made as the pc had been sitting idle about 30 minutes when the gdec crashed

What else? A M III is looking all too good at the moment...

Fresh after recovering, I recorded the same phrase that locked it up with no issues, or so I thought... I went to connect to my pc as a usb using the exit button, but holding it down no longer offers that function. Holding the exit button simply puts me on a screen showing the preset up top and an option to switch it in the middle which is toggled using the wheel assigning them to a quickaccess (qa 1-3) it appears. Huh??

The 2 phrases I recorded did save - as gdec0005 and 6. There's no other phrases on it!

Edit: reinstalling the .upd brought back the connection option for what that's worth.

I'm now remembering another glitch a few days/week ago: after attempting to save a phrase it appeared to save fine, but lost ALL data. I could log on as a usb and it showed as an empty drive with approx. 80% of the 250 megs of space occupied. I couldn't work with the drive and did yet another .upd file to bring it back then. That appears to me the FAT got whacked. So... all this rambling isn't for blowing off steam - hopefully someone can make enough sense to fix things, although a replacement would still suit me better.

I'm a tad worried myself. A couple weeks ago, bands disappeared from presets, and somehow the bands on my SD card got unassociated with the audio folder. Yesterday, while playing, the amp made this white noise sound... shhhhhhhhhhhhh... and didn't stop until I turned it off & back on again. Seems to be fine now. But I'm hoping this doesn't get worse.

My logic is, "it's not an AMP anyway, it never really was- it's a COMPUTER, and computers are notorious for this kind of behavior. I guess it'll be fine as long as I have all MY presets backed up, and as long as that white noise thing doesn't come back. At least it's under warranty.

I do like it- still say it's the best solution to quiet/late night/bedroom playing where volume is an issue.

I saw the white noise once when I tweaked 1 preset. I adjusted base or treble, played a few bars, and the noise locked in place. Twisted the knob away from that preset, it cleared up, back to it, and a few bars into a tune and white noise. I overwrote the preset with something else and no more problems with that.

Yep, it's a computer and I'm good with that. However, if your computer wanted to reformat the harddrive for saving a document to it, how safe would you feel in the long run saving to it? That was the SECOND fiasco. The first, I'd done something similar and no bands or presets were present. A look at the HD via usb, and it was around 75-80% full which was normal, but EMPTY when accessing it and required a format about a week ago. That's a little more than a "bug". And now they're phasing it out... I feel all warm and fuzzy - mine's been here about 2 whole weeks. That's why I'm pissed! I DO like the thing (conceptually)- it just don't like me!

Hmm, now you guys have me a bit nervous. I use my amp a lot in live gigs. I have the optional pedal added and it has worked out great. I use an SD 16 gig card for all my backing tracks and such. I plug in my amp quite a bit thru the week to make updates and rearrange songs and sounds with the FUSE program. Sorry you guys are having such problems. Maybe I am just lucky I don't know. I do have a backup plan if all goes down on me but so far so good.

Hi KMatch,

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing so much frustration with your amp. I will be getting in touch with you via the email you sent in shortly to offer direct support for you and your amp. For the other people in this thread, I would say that while any hardware device will have issues from time to time, we have found the Fender G-DEC 3s to be good, stable amps over the past 2 years plus that we have had them here and tested them extensively in the Tech Support Lab.

If others here are experiencing any specific issues with their amp, please send a detailed email with your Forum name, real name and amp serial number, along with a description of the issue to the address below. Thanks.

While I do speak my mind, positive or negative depends on the outcome. I want to go on record saying I'm not bashing a product - I simply have a new unit with issues. That happens in ALL products, otherwise, there would be no warranties issued. Those of you worried about gigs and such, if it's been working, I see no reason for it to stop. Mine showed questionable signs out of the box which I blew off as "it's new to me, I'll learn to dance with it" but after learning to dance with it, it keeps changing the choreography. If Fender comes up with a reliable fix, I'll sing the praises.

Alan, thanks for the response. I believe I sent most of what you asked in the email, except serial number. If needed, I can include that in a separate email.

Hi KMatch,

If you can please send the serial number, that would be helpful. From there, I will follow up with you via email directly. Thanks.
