Just recently started to have problems with low headphone volume. I can max the volume to 10 and it is a bit loud but not extreme. This is using my American Deluxe Strat. When I plug in my acoustic guitar (Dean Performer model) I have to max the guitar volume to 10 plus the amp volume to 10 just to hear it. Has anyone else had this problem on would have a suggestion how to fix? I have tried several pairs of headphones and it is the same will with all of them. I also tried different guitar cords and came up with the same results with either guitar.

Responses here are few but here's mine for what little it may be worth. I'm still experimenting with mine and hadn't tried the phones until I saw your issues. Here's how mine is: with the amp next to my chair the volume is comfortable at 2-3 or so, and with iphone phones I can barely hear it. I can turn it to ten comfortably but wouldn't care to leave it there as it's just a bit much for extended periods. I haven't even plugged my Ventura acoustic in yet but I do see where I would have to add 4 or 5 to the level to be at a similar level of open versus headphones. Does this give you a baseline?

Thanks for the reply KMatch. When I first got the amp (Nov 2011) maxing the volume at 10 was not a thing you would want to do with headphones if you wanted to keep your hearing. It just seems odd that the headphone volume would decrease significally on its own. This amp has not left my house or moved off of my stand since I brought it home so the amp has not been banged around. I don't play through the amp speaker much but when testing it appears to as loud as the day I bought it. I can live with it for now. I'll just have to experment with it more.

Hi Dogfishblues,

I would suggest that you try connecting a different sound source such as a media player/mp3 player (Aux in), and see how the headphone level is with that. And please let me know what you find. If it turns out that your amp has a hardware issue, then we can check into that as well.
