I recently bought a G-DEC 30 and love it. I recently installed the Blues Package. Everything with the installation went fine. When I boot up my amp it says Blues edition but I still get all the factory pre-sets and none of the blues content. What am I doing wrong.

Thanks

I had the same problem when I upgraded it through the Fuse SW. Only the firmware got upgraded, and although it showed "Blues Edition" at startup, the factory presets were still on the Amp.
Then I did it via SD card, exactly as described on the GDEC support site (including 2 boot cycles etc.), and it worked.

Hey jdenar,

I've seen that before. If possible, try using a different SD card to load the content. What brand of SD card are you using?

Have the same problem. Have tried 2 different SD cards, including a new 8GB Sandisk. No luck. Coordinating with Fender support but maybe someone here has an answer.
Thanks

The only way I get a successful blues load is to: First, do the update with the blues .upd file. THEN, install the other 2 files after rebooting. Other posts on here have folks doing the update afterwards but each time I have missing bands. Doing the update, delete the .upd file, add the .bin and .img files AFTER worked for me every time.

Before you guys get too far away from the forums, maybe someone from Fender can chime in here. The glitches I, and a few others, are seeing appear to be isolated cases? Or are we few doing something wrong? As per my other posts, I wanted metal presets and blues tracks so in one last attempt I loaded the metal edition according to Fender guidelines: .bin and .img first. True to *my* form, I tried loading the metal edition files first which lead to missing bands. My amp *will not* accept a clean install of any genre without *first* installing that related update (.upd) file. Personally I'm not concerned, but I can see if this is a common problem, tons of other folks may not have the patience to tinker and find this out and are likely missing TONS of features! Do the instructions need to be updated or does my GDEC need to read the manual?

Hi Guys,

The instructions on the Knowledgebase page link above are correct. Basically you need to get the 3 files from the downloaded zip on to the root level of an SD card. Those file extensions are .img, .bin and .upd. If those files are present on the root level (not inside any folder) of the SD card, the amp should perform correctly with regard to the steps published in the Knowledgebase article.

The only real exceptions we have seen are when a card is not compatible or in the rare occasion where the amp actually has a hardware defect or failure of some type. As far as card incompatibility, there are small variances in the manufacture and specifications of SD cards. And we do see occasions where a particular card simply won't function correctly. In those cases, you will need to try another card. Generally speaking, the cards we suggest are Sandisk up to 8GB. Thanks.

Hi KMatch - How do you add the .bin and .img files after completing the update? I wanna try that... Can't seem to find the instructions for it in the manual or knowledgebase. Thanks!

It's pretty simple and seems to go against the grain, but it's the only way MY amp will work normally. The *original* procedure, and what works for most is: copy the .bin and .img files to the root of the SD, insert it in the amp, turn it on, and hit Start when the amp finds it and let it run, THEN copy the .upd to the root, delete the other 2, and do it all again. Simply put, my amp misses approx. 50% of the band track links when I do this. It makes no sense, but that's just the way it is. What works for me? Start with the .upd on the SD. Install it, remove it from the card, put the .bin and .img on there and install those Last. I'm not the only one with this issue as I see comments here and there about the same which is where I found the procedure I use. These amps are fantastic once setup, but the software is a bit buggy as there are a couple other oddities I run into while tinkering.

Hi KMatch,

Perhaps you could send me an email with your Forum name and real name, and I could offer some additional support directly. Your amp should not need a workaround like you are describing. If there is an issue with the amp, we can address that as well. Thanks.

OMG - this worked for me! I did exactly as you described and it just worked.

Thank you so much, KMatch. Saved me lots of trouble as I was advised that my G-DEC's SD card slot might be defective and has to be replaced. Whew!

Hope others having the same problems give this a try... and that it is included in the Knowledgebase (until fixes whatever the problem is).

Hi Guys,

It is unusual for the amp to need to be loaded this way. But this direction of install/restore works the same, as you are finding as the official instructions. If any of you have additional concerns, please send an email to the address below and include your Forum name and real name. Thanks.
