Hi,

A few months ago I bought the 30W version of the GDEC 3 especially for the additional tweeter, hoping for a more brilliant sound of the background music. I am very pleased with the GDEC3 30, but the performance of the tweeter was very disappointing. I hardly notice any output, even when my ear is close to the tweeter (right upper corner). Am I missing something or could there be something wrong? Before starting discussions with the supplier and/or loosing my DEC 3 30 for repair I was wondering if there is anyone who can share his/her experience with me?

Thanks!

I never thought to check this, but when putting my ear against the place where you say the tweater is located, I do not have much of anything coming out of that. I scrolled thru 30 internal band tracks with my ear pressed up against the cloth and nothing !!!

In my case - though at minimal level - at least something could be heard. Initially I even opened the back of the box to be sure that a tweeter is really there. It looked more impressive to me than just a tweeter. I should not be surprised that it is also intended for mid-tones.
Maybe this tweeter can be controlled via a (software) tone control. Do you know about a service diagram that could probably explain more? The G-DEC schematic I found on the internet didn't show a tweeter at all.

Try an A/B test by covering it up. I think you'll be surprized at the diff

Thanks JoeR, though this was just the answer I was afraid of, because it means that there is definitely something wrong with my GDEC3-30 tweeter. At the other hand it is promising that it should be much better after repair. Looks like I have no other option than to take it back for repair.

Hopefully you don't have to go too far and it will be an easy fix. Do a backup in case they swap it out

Hey Guys,

Playing through a few tracks on a G-DEC 3 Thirty here I definitely noticed a difference in the way the hi hats and cymbals sounded as I moved my ear from the tweeter to the woofer and back. If you don't think you're tweeter is working you may want to have your amp checked out.
