I am looking to purchase an amp. I thinking M II or III maybe the IV or a G-DEC but i have some questions.
Here are my questions:
Can the Mustang not do everything the G-DEC can?
Are the G-DEC sound presets the same as the MUSTANG?
Are the MUSTAN & G-DEC the same AMPs cept the layout of panel, the SD card, and built in BackTracks?
Does the MUSTANG have a SD slot anywhere?
From what i have seen online and read the Mustang can also play MP3's(via FUSE) so you can play along? Is this ture?
Can you download the same G-DEC Back Tracks so you can use play-along capabilities with the MUSTANG via the Fuse Software and the Mustang?
I have heard there were probs with Fuzzyness and other things, then they released new firmwares that fixed these probs. Is this Ture? What firmware # are they at? Did both the Mustang and G-DEC suffer from these issues?
What kinda warranty do they come with?

Ok, I'll take a stab at this.

GET THE GDEC!

Just kidding. Seriously.

Can the Mustang not do everything the G-DEC can?
No, the Mustang can do the effects and amp cabs, but it does not have built in band tracks with pre-programed effects for those band tracks. This means that when you chose a band track to play along to on the GDEC, it has an associated preset. You can play with this preset or adjust it via Fuse or right on the GDEC and save it. You can also play around with the preset and use it then not save it, returning it to the original. They both connect to Fuse and both have built in tuners. Don't know if the Mustang has line-outs, but the GDEC Thirty does.

Are the G-DEC sound presets the same as the MUSTANG?
Depending on which Mustang you get, they are pretty similar. I had a Mustang I, and there are so many presets on both, it didn't matter if they were the same, there are a lot.

Are the MUSTAN & G-DEC the same AMPs cept the layout of panel, the SD card, and built in BackTracks?

Well, they both are digital solid state amps, but the Mustang does not have an SD card slot nor does it play band tracks.

From what i have seen online and read the Mustang can also play MP3's(via FUSE) so you can play along? Is this ture?
You can hook up a CD/MP3 player to the aux input of the Mustang, as you can with the GDEC, but why bother? With the GDEC you load whatever you want on an SD card the just stick it in the slot. I find backing tracks online, transfer my CDs to SD card. Its so much more convenient.

Can you download the same G-DEC Back Tracks so you can use play-along capabilities with the MUSTANG via the Fuse Software and the Mustang?
Again, I'm not that familiar with Fuse to know if it has this capability, but I don't think Fuse will do this. Fuse is used to edit presets and you can also go online with it and transfer presets to the Mustang and GDEC. You also can transfer band tracks to the GDEC, but I the Mustang doesn't do band tracks. I also find it easier to skip the Fuse interface when transferring band and presets - I just use an SD card.

I have heard there were probs with Fuzzyness and other things, then they released new firmwares that fixed these probs. Is this Ture? What firmware # are they at? Did both the Mustang and G-DEC suffer from these issues?
What kinda warranty do they come with?

Both amps come with the standard Fender 5 year warranty.
As far as I know, the Fizz problem was only with the Mustang. I don't think the GDEC had that problem. GDEC is at firmware 1.04.

In conclusion, :), you get more speaker for the money with the Mustang. 12" on the Mustang for the same price as a 10" on the GDEC. You get no band tracks on the Mustang. Band tracks are awesome.

I love my GDEC, I live by the band tracks. My Mustang and even my tube amps pale in comparison of the fun factor of the GDEC. I take it everywhere and with the 10" speaker and the tweeter, its a great sounding amp. Sure, its not a tube amp, but its plenty loud and has better tone than many comparable solid state amps.

Also, keep in mind this is the GDEC forum, I know Mustang owners love their Mustangs as much and many would not ever think of buying a GDEC. But for playing alone, getting some real band practice, portability, (not having to lug around a cd or mp3 player and the cords), I love the GDEC. (I also sold my Mustang, it had the presets but without the band tracks, it was like having half an amp).

Band tracks are great. What's also great is being able to change my GDEC to any of 4 models - Original, Blues, Country, Metal. That is really fun and easy too.

I also owned a GDEC-3 Fifteen and returned it for the GDEC-3 Thirty. Its larger and heavier, harder to lug around, but I preferred the tone and the tweeter.

Good luck!

Walt

PS: I just want to add that the only effect pedal I have to supplement the GDEC is a Morley Bad Horsie 2 Wah.

The amp also plays computer sounds through the usb cable so its a great computer speaker too.

Hey Navy Elk,

If you have a need for native Band Track playback, a built in phrase sampler, or an SD card slot for portability, consider the G-DEC 3. If you just want an amp, get a Mustang. It all boils down to what you need it for.
