OK I have decided to return my G-DEC 3 Fifteen, but now I am deciding between the G-DEC 3 Thirty or the Mustangg III. I have the G-DEC footswitch so if I go with the Mustang I guess I will need to return that as well and get the Mustang one. I like the Backtracks in the G-DEC but think I may like the functionality of the Mustang better. Any advice from owners of both. This is for home use only if that helps.

Thanks,

Dante

No contest for me. GDEC all the way. I own a Thirty and love it. I play at alone at home and I live by the band backing tracks. Sure you can get backing tracks off the web and play it off an mp3 player or a computer, but with it all in one box and seamless the way it loops, I am totally sold on it. I even load CD's on SD cards and take them along. So much easier than connecting stuff to any amp.

I owned the Fifteen and returned it also, I preferred the improved tone of the Thirty with the 10" speaker and tweeter. Seems like the Mustang's 100 watts and 12" speaker would be a lot of amp to play at home, but maybe you have a garage or studio to practice in. I do get to turn up the GDEC in a rec room nearby and its plenty loud.

I've owned a Mustang I, and have nothing bad to say about it. I just liked the features of the GDEC. I also own a Champ 600 with is another great amp.

Most of all the GDEC is so much fun and so flexible. I know the Mustang is more amp for the same price, but for me, its done. Other amps have come and gone, but I'm keeping the GDEC.

I am leaning towards the G-Dec, the left/right lines out are swaying me because I can always go stereo through some nice powered monitors if I need/want bigger sound. The thing I like about the Mustang III is that your master/gain, mid/low/high is all there on top in real knobs.

I decided to try a little experiment today and ran my G-DEC via the headphone jack into my Marshall VS100 head and cabinet. Loved teh bigger tone, now I am debating weather to return it for the thirty or not. Any thoughts?

Tried the Mustang III several times at a local GC - liked the knobs and their integration with presets, but for me it was just too much amp - too loud - for playing at home. Went with the Gdec 3-30. Both amps are based around presets and once I get a preset where I want it, I don't mess with it. Figured the same would be true of the Mustang - I would use the knobs to fine tune the presets to my taste, and then I wouldn't touch them again. Ultimately it really depends on how you want to use the amp. For solo jamming and learning at home I think the Gdec has a lot of capability with the SD card, band tracks, and phrase sampler all integrated. I like that I can get good sounds at reasonable volume levels. I also use the line outs of the 30 to a powered sub and stereo speakers (left over from an old PC) for augmenting the sound of the band tracks, and it sounds great - the sub makes a huge difference. The only caveat I would add is that as with all digital technology, the Gdec will 'age out' much more quickly than a more 'traditional' amp.
